Each order, they custom build them on a moke up engine. Gt28 are not more expensive, but requires internal upgrades.

They are selling at the moment about 1 kit a week... It's not harder to make with gt2560'S like my kit, it's even easier for the headers...

For sure they still do it, to answer your question. It just seems that my gt25 kit his the one you want, but on the market, it seems old...

Even one freind of his goes to germany on a montly basis to work, he bring back interesting parts that youll see in the nogaro car, witch is almost ready.

A local want to try and rebuild that one.

Next logical step shold be a twin disk

If it goes smoth according to my plans, I sould be around 540whp in march.

I'm still not decieded.

Im debating on a twin disc next. I am going to drive a asp gt28 car on sat to feel their twin disc. I am choosing between asp's twin disc (Tilton) and spec recently released a nice looking setup.. Im afraid ill hate it though.

You switched from the spec to vast clutch correct?

How much does a twin disc run nowaday. . . I would imagine they aren't cheap but then again nothing ever is

I called clutchmasters and they told me $2500 for theirs. ASP wants $1899 but they dont have the flywheels in stock right now, and spec wants $1950ish i think.

I switched from CM stage 3 to Vast. I like the vast a lot, but i dont want any problems with the clutch when the rs6 turbos go in.

I think i know who this is haha [:D] Could be wrong though...

The problem is it "might" work. Autospeed tells me rs4 based clutch kits fail around 600 ft lbs. Not saying ill hit that, but if im close id hate to have to pull this tranny AGAIN haha. I like over preparing sometimes.

Same problem with me, we have about the same output with 2 differents setups.

My clutch as it is, was running fine, no slipping. It just fusionned to the flywheel 2 times this summer, but it kept going.

I pulled out the motor at first to get my 3rd to 4th shift collar changed.
Now, it looks more like a complete rebuilt project.

2 weeks before parking it to switch to my W8, it started burning oil under boost. I took my compression, I got 185 psi in the 6 cyl even.

Both turbos look fine ?

It pissed me of, but I will forge it... With the help of 034.

What have you decided for the clutch? Like i said im going to drive one of ASP's cars sat, so i can let you know how their twin disc is. Also, spec has a twin plate they say isnt exactly designed for daily driving, but they said the acceleration and shifting is so good with it that a lot of customers daily drive it anyway.

Maybe if I save enough money by just changing my rod bolts instead of the full set of rods...

I'm fuc$%ing joking...

I drove my friend's 3.2 turbo TT. You know the white one at Waterfest. It's a twin disc (Clutchmasters) Not bad for a street driven car, but it's noisy as hell whe the car is at idle.

Have you ever heard if the tilton is noisy ? I want my car to be a sleeper...

Have you ever heard if the tilton is noisy ? I want my car to be a sleeper...

Mark at autospeed said the clutch has low rpm chatter like any aluminum flywheel will, he also said when you step on the pedal the throw out bearing makes a noise. He said its something you should drive before buying, so he offered for me to come down saturday and drive one of their cars.

Sleeper? Haha man you need to do something about that fmic then .

This block has about 100000 miles.

About 20k were done at 22 psi with k24/rs4 hybrids...

About 15k were done at 15 psi with GT25's internally gated with haked stock maniflods.

About 30k were done at 22-23 psi with my current setup

A lot of abuse. I think the cylinders still looks fine, remember I had about 185 psi in each of them.

The next part, will not be done by myself, I'm sending my block to a local engine builder.

New ring, on old pistons.
Complete honing ang checking of the block.
Rebalancing the rotating assembly.
Installation of my 034 motorsports forged rods...

And A major cleanup with a fresh coat of high temp paint...

No.

never been in a gt28 car yet.

The nogaro shop car at vag is jus broken in but it's still winter over here, he's still running only the wastegates springs only a 14 psi. He's on 28's

my setup is very quick spool, not very far from stock feel.

Wow that's really good to know man thanks a lot. If I get the chance I would like to go with the gt2554's. It's the smallest ball bearing turbo Garrett makes and I think it would be perfect for stock displacement. Not much lag at all with plenty of low end torque and high-end hp. Good luck with the rest of your project. Can't wait to see how it turns out.[up]

I bought everything in advance when I thought I had 2560's like castro said back then.

I know on paper they lose a bit of their efficienty. But running them at 25 psi to, and I had great results doing so.

Let's say the motor is gonna be built and safer, money side, is't getting a bit expensive, so for now these gt2554 are going back on. I think the 2.8 heads with the 2.8 cams are gonnamake a uge difference in the power band.

Ill try for now like this, if its ridicously undriveable, ill swap turbos with 2560rs.

I know my turbos are gonna be a bit out of breath a 8200 rpm, but I really want to test them first and change em for gt2560rs if I'm not happy. It's getting costly...

This gives you a rough estimate of when it will be out of the efficiency range.

http://www.turbofast.com.au/TFmatch.html

Really depends on how much boost you plan on holding to 8000. Anything above 26 psi and you'll probably want 2560's or even 2860R.

generationjdm
02-07-2008, 06:14 PM
Actually there out of breath around 74-7500 at 25lbs if you go by the garretts maps

Since flow will be a lot better with this combo: 2.8 heads, cams, rs4 intake and probably a volks w8 or r32 TB, I wont need to hold tha much a 8k, probably I will request my profec B a 26 psi boost presure, ill be happy if it holds over 24 psi over 8k.

generationjdm

I will have intake cams with springs other then that stock, but I'm using a different turbo then you, one that is being made for me it's a special hybrid off one of the gt turbos. It's a hybrid of a hybrid basically. Is that clutch your running going to hold?

11 seconds in the 130's is now the goal.

Instead of running my 2554 at 26 psi, with water meth, I'll run 23 psi on the 2871's.

Redline of 8k plus the cams, 2.8 heads, w8 TB, It dont think lag will be such an issue.

I dont think I'll run more than 23 psi, but will run more timing with an updated unitronic custom tune.

Looks like you are having fun GURUMAN. It will be cool to see how it all turns out.

P.S. I make a shifter for the W8. I had a guy help me prototype it and it works great. I just haven't marketed it. Just in case you are missing that feeling that your S4 gave you on shifts. [:D]

The VAST clutch is a great clutch and held up to my 11.1s @ 130mph w full interior. The only problem is on a really sticky track day (visit prior to my 11.1 day). It would not hold on a really hard launch, so I called it a day and it lived for another day of track battle. This was cool since it recovered fine after I slipped it just once (really bad) but was smart enough to pack up for the day. It does hold on powershifting though (my first 11.1 was normal shifting and my second was powershifting). Hence the fact that I can only get my 60ft in the 1.73 to 1.79 range. Luckily for my clutch my local track is slippery as snot most of the time, so I just have to leave a little low in the RPM (about 3200rpm) for a small bog then rip off the times. My clutch is probably the only thing from being the only full interior K04 powered car in the 10s since I probably can't 60ft in the 1.6 range even if I put drag radials on the car. That is part of the reason I stay with the $99 225/40R18 Kuhmos. However I may try drag radials and cross my fingers since my clutch is still alive and well and I can't justify a teardown for replacing. It is one hell of a streetable and strong clutch for 95% of the cars out there.

So I think you are right in wanting a little bit more. If your car wasn't heavy like mine it would be fine. I am starting to consider other clutch options myself for the day when I put RS6 turbos in my car. Gutting my car is not in my plans, heck its an Audi not a Honda.

I would like to know which clutch you switch to and how you like it once you get to go beat on it some. Keep me posted man.

Cool man, definitely let me know how you like it. That is the dual disc one rignt?

Hop is not good. I broke 2 front axles at different times. Also broke all the mounts once. The new 034 snub mount cage, and the poly DTS mount upgrade help alot. Also I run Kuhmos as well. I haven't broken anything like that in at least a dozen track visits now. Knock on wood.

Larger throttle body inlet (with RS4/W8 or R32 TB), thicker intake runners which have larger intake ports (which match up to larger 2.8 or RS4 cylinder head intake inlets) and a larger volume plenum. Overall, flows more air and more air = more power.

Update, sad sad sad story....

joking, the car was towed today to Vagmotorsports to get finished over there. The shop owner sold his nogaro car and now will finish mine.

It's not a DIY project anymore, I sold my house in the suburbs to move downtown Montreal in an industrial Loft with no garage... Sick and tired of hitting 3hrs of traffic daily.

I'll keep you guys posted with more pick, he's starting on it monday.

I'm glad things forced you to replace the pistons... I think you'll be very pleased with the new compression ratio.
FYI: ASP cuts the bottom off the stock RS4 manifold and replaces it with a deeper/smoother bottom, which increases volume & flow. Might be something worth looking into while you have everything apart right now. The stock manifold has a bunch of bumps and casting bosses, etc.
Good Luck with the Build-Up.
This is basically everything i would do if I were building my engine up.

I dont rally care about the 0.2L missing, my plan was not to make it stronger (torque) by stroking it, but make it spin faster by 1500 rpm by balancing everything...

I drove Vag's nogaro 2.8L on gt2560, and I tell you lag isn't an issue like all you guys think...
