I've had the Recaro for a few months now and my 18 month old loves it. It's so comfy, that she always falls asleep in it. I found it on Ebay for $225 shipped IIRC. It's recommended for kids over 12 months and 20lbs.
I believe they have a rear facing seat for babies but I wouldn't spend that much cash if you're barely going to get any use out of it. The best part about this seat is that it converts to a booster and will suit her until she's 80 lbs.
I went with the Ebony. It's covered in a comfy velour-like fabric and doesn't get hot at all despite being dark in color.

can't say I have ever seen a Momo baby seat, but I do like my daughters Recaro. Most importantly, she loves it. Can't wait for my son to get big enough to fit in one. I bought this one from Darren at SW and thanks for reminding me that I need to order another one.

I have (2) Britax Marathon seats and I think they are just as good if not better than the Recaro seats...my twin girls love em :)

Well, I can speak for both since my wife has the Marathon in the X3.
Recaro:
Side head and body protection in the form of bolsters. The seating position seems to be mopre ergonomic and comfortable as it is slightly more upright. If a more reclined position is desired, it can be dialed down. I have it at the most upright position and my daughter loves it. The rear tether system is simple and concise - doesn't bind up.
The Recaro also sits lower in the vehicle, meaning her head and body are better shielded behind the door rather than exposed through the side window.
Marathon:
No side head or body protection (no bolsters). Extremely high/raised seating position - child's head and body are exposed through the side windows. Even on the most upright seating position, she is pretty reclined and is always lifting her head to see what's going on - seems uncomfortable. The marathon is also larger, so it takes up more back seat space. The extra width seems unnecessary to me. It also has a weird rear tether system, the strap seems like an afterthought as it binds up no matter how you turn or twist it.
They are both great seats - very sturdy and of excellent quality but both me and wifey prefer the Recaro for the reasons listed above.

have the marathon (wife) and boulevard (mine). britax rank higher in safety than recaros (on baby center). are they as cool for us enthusiasts? no. but they do the job and aren't fugly. good luck!

Check out maxi cosi, they rank better in safety than the recaro. There are several test made in Europe and US to back it up.
ADAC, in germany did a test with the seats in cars, not just a test bench, it was very interesting to read, this is the 2010 results.

For me it is about safety not the looks of the seat.
What ever you get, make sure to fit it correctly else it might not be as effective as it could be in an accident.

Just a question.
My seat belts are locked most of the time and are in the way while putting the child in and out of the car.
Is there a quick way to unlock the seat belt?
I usually release it and relock it
So I'm guessing these are for bigger kids? The reason I ask is we have a newborn and use the Chico carrier/base system and that has been a huge convenience for us, to be able to buckle the kid into the seat, then simply drop that into its base in the car seems much easier a seat installed in the car. I'd hate to give that up just to have some oontzy car seat. That might just be they way it is once they outgrow the carrier seat though, my little guy is only 2 months old so I guess I'll find out soon enough.

How dare they want only the safest seats in our country. TBH it's probably because Recaro has put no effort into getting them approved in Canada as we are very small market and it's not worth it for them.
