View Full Version : Should I take the Four rings off the back?

ohSIXb7

I'm pretty new to AZ, but I would appreciate opinions on a coupl things:
1) Should I take the four-rings off the back of my car. The car itself is black and already has the (A4) and (2.0T) taken off.
2) I have the ECS Tuning blackout grille and was thinking about painting the front four rings black with a clearcoat--good or bad?

Anybody know where I could get some nice black wheels between 17" and 19" for under $1100 with shipping?

Thanks for all your help[wrench]

NO![down]

taking off the A4 and 2.0T is ok with me but the rings should always remain the way they are...

Take them off, I had the dealer take it all off before I even picked the car up...

It sucks being w/o a digicam but I'll post pics by the end of the week.

Do what you want, I've contemplated it as well. My B6 is black and I have two sets of rings for the grille, I painted one set black this past weekend and it looks good with the black or chrome set on; really can't go wrong either way.

I would ignore any girl who called my car a civic. Period.

lots of girls out there - they have to compete with my love for Audi [:)].

I would say keep the rings! The back of the car looks great de-badged and just having the 4 rings on the trunk lid is VERY clean!

Lose them if that's the look you're going for. We have the benefit of no indentations or holes underneath the badge. Some people spend a lot of money to get this look on filling and painting and I think it looks great.

The only issue is getting rid of the front badge - so the balance would be off.

I specifically asked for a non Quattro car when shopping around. Although Quattro rocks, I think the 2.0T is way underpowered to be giving away extra HP via 4 wheels (even when chipped). Plus, I personally have no use for all wheel drive.

It doesn't snow in Miami and I drive slow in the rain. Regardless of whether I'm driving wifey's X-Drive equipped X3 or my FWD A4.

yeah yeah justify it however you need to. [:D]

I agree though, the drivetrain loss is quite significant with quattro - mine with 91APR and full exhaust felt about the same as a stock FWD loaner car i had.

And on a serious note, keep the rings - take everything else off.

this forum is so retarded sometimes it amazes me...

the notion that 1 set of $20 rings makes or breaks the car is so far fetched its unbelievable.

we've had 3 threads on this since i started trolling this forum a couple days ago and ive heard people say that removing them makes you an embarrassment, makes it generic, makes you drive a hoopty, makes you poor, not proud of your car and so forth...

its a set of $20 rings. removing them doesnt have a deeper meaning. leaving them doesn't have a deeper meaning.

YES. do what you want. but for the the guys posting pictures of them without the rings trying to say it looks bad, i think the exact opposite. looks super clean imo. its not like there is much of "open space" like on those gti's that are debaged. ill post a picture of mine but i like it without the badges. my old suburban was completely debaged and that looked sick too ;) i understand if you want the rings simply to represent but i think ringless looks really clean.

thats what I wanted to say! ha yes taking off the rings is for civics..leave them! be proud of audi :). as for the front rings, I would leave them chrome cause theres still enough chrome on the car to look good. The trim around the windows and the rear rings help bring it all together for a cleaner look IMO.

black rings on a black car would look hot. Lexus had black pearl emblems as an option (at least that's what they did when I had an IS300). I've even seen Camry's with black emblems.
