Hi, I just joined this forum because I love Audis(have owned many in the past, have two now and will be adding a third soon!) and I have a problem. I have a 2005.5(One of the first B7)A4 2.0T Quattro Automatic that have been just amazing since I got it. However, in the past week or so most of the time when I come to a slow rolling stop I will feel the car downshift very harshly and I can feel the car shake. Its startting to get really annoying. I would take it in but the dealer I got it from(New Country in Greenwich,CT) is pretty far from my house(my local dealer said they couldn't get me one of these for 4 months when I was trying to get one, New Country had one in 3 days, best service I have ever had) so I haven't gotten to take it in. Has anyone else experience this or have any idea what the problem is?

Thanks a ton,
Andrew

Is this mainly on lower downshifts like 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st?

Does it do the same thing when you downshift yourself in Tip mode?

First thing that comes to my mind is a bad motor mount... not sure though that sounds strange. If your still under warranty and can't diagnose it yourself just take it into your local dealer and have them take a look at it.

I just had someone else drive it and they said that they think its my ABS kicking in because it only happens really when I come to a slow stop. I'm not so sure about it though, so I think I'm gonna go to Audi just to get it checked out.

I have the same car and the same problem. Harsh downshifting with the automatic but it doesn't do it in manual mode. Did you get a resolution from the dealer?

Your TIP's valve body is going out most likely.
I have a harsh 2-3 transition.
I havent yet run across anyone online who has had this fixed--most have just learned to live with it.
We're probably slowly killing the transmission right?

I've had two prior A4's before the one I just purchased. I've never had this issue. It's making me want to sell my car, which I don't want to do!
