About almost a month ago, i had my Tein Basics Coils put on my b7 sline a4. Suspension is great, but i also wanted to have wheel spacers put on the rears, so i bought 8mm spacers figuring i wont go too big so i wont rub.

The drop i got was low but not slammed, just perfect. But the tire was right at the fender and the 24 hours i had the car after the spacers were put on, it was rubbing like crazy. So the next day i had them taken off and its fine now.

When i look underneath now, i can see where the rears were rubbing, it was hitting that inner liner prob like crazy, but i think if i was to get my Fenders Rolled, i think the spacers would be fine. I'm no expert at this but can someone answer my question....

If i was to get my fenders rolled and throw back on the 8mm spacers, would this solve the problem of rubbing?

Im selling/sending the spacers out very soon and would like to know if these can actually work.

If your rubbing on the actual fender lip, then rolling will help greatly, however if you are only rubbing on the carpet ie: fender liner... then rolling will do nothing for you.

You can do one of few things, keep it on, and just the tires burn a hole through the carpet, change the spacers to a 5mm, or take them off.

If your rubbing on the actual fender, the roll it, and keep the 8mm spacer.

it is the carpet liner that its hitting. But i have stock titanium wheels with pirellia as's.....

what exactly does fender rolling do? Does it actually make your fender wider?

Cant i just take off the carpet liner? Do people wait for there carpet liner to have a hole burned in it?

I cut my liner out where it was rubbing and rolled the inside of the fenders to make more clearance.

It may be hard to understand, but the fender rolls under and out a bit to hold the liner... so if you chopped the fender in half, and looked at it straight on, it would be like this \|

I used a round wooden handle and bent the inside of the fender IN. It gave me more clearance and definitely helped a lot.

You could also get an aggressive street alignment - this will give you some negative camber and your tires will tuck under your wheel well a bit better.

Regardless, if you take your wheel off and look at the inside of the fender, you will see that its pretty simple to make more clearance. Don't worry about cutting the liner, its not a big deal.

You can either let is burn a hole, or cut it, just be careful when you cut, you dont want to hack too much off or it will sag and create even more problems in terms of rubbing on the carpet. What fender rolling does, is on your rears if you place your hand on the inside portion of the fender, you'll notice a lip or a roll that is attached to the fender. What is done, is that roll or lip, is "roll" with a fender rolling tool to push it against the fender.

Call me if you need more information about it or if im confusing you.
