View Full Version : WTF - hit and run...
i'm not sure when it happened, probably during lunch, doubt it happened at work. the front end got hit just above the front bumper and the bottom portion of the front grills. what really upsets me is that i can pop the hood open but i can't unlatch the mother-effer so it's stuck. i have a feeling it happened during lunch and not at work. most people here would be responsible enough to leave a note.
so what's the consensus for a reputable (preferably in the south bay) body shop.
will post pics when i get a chance.
ARGH!!!! great, now that it's paid off (thinking i can start saving more) i have to fork over to get this fixed ASAP.
newest mod - front end damage thanks to mr/mrs hit-n-run.

yo.
you running this though insurance or not?
if yes, then emc, in fremont.
or brooks in oakland.
they are $$$$$. but great work.
if not. then fairground auto in san jose. mention that edwin and eugene in the silver a4 sent you. they do good work, and its chizzeap.
GL.
thanks benny! i wanted to get quotes before i decide to file a claim or not. by the looks of it most damage was on the grills (there goes my DIY on blackout grills), second would be the hood (the whole thing may need replacement since I can't unlatch it), third is the front bumper (two areas w/ gashes). i checked the front body lines and there seems to be no disruptions. wonder if i can get a USP front and possibly a CF hood out of this?
okay, a little out of order but i got a quote from EMC (damn is it going to be expensive), i asked security at work to review their cameras (they weren't as helpful as i thought), and i filed an event log w/ the local PD. haven't had time to call my insurance yet...so i'll be rocking my damaged front end at this weekend's BBQ G2G at SC.
so what does one do when one files a claim? what/how do others get upgraded parts? this is the first major accident i've had in a vehicle although i wasn't driving.
i can think of one person that starts w/ an R and ends w/ an I (PM on how you went about this situation)
TIA

That’s a suxor [:(]
I recommend calling your insurance to see what kind of coverage you can get for this. Depending on insurance policy type and company, some of their comprehensive coverage won’t affect your rates.
You can always discuss with them if you’d like to file a claim or just have it fixed out of pocket, so it’s not like calling them will automatically result in a claim.
And if out of pocket, what Benny said is correct. Transon’s Auto Body (brother shop of Fairground Auto) located in 7th street in San Jose may be able to work a reasonable deal for you. They pretty much know me there know as I keep returning for either body shop work, smog check, alignment, etc for mine and my brother’s silver A4’s.

everything in this thread that urges one to do anything suspect is OBVIOUSLY sarcasm. : )

I also just got my front end practically ripped off. Is it even possible to think about the idea of upgrading to USP after I've filed a claim with the insurance company?

BTW... I had some dude say hey I can fix your car. I was going into Target. I says how much and he says $275. I say $200 but I thought he was joking about fixing it in 10 mins. I go in and come out and they are just sitting in their car chillin. I look at the Audi and the shit is straight. Just couldnt get the little dimple out from someone trying to use channel locks to fix it (not me). They sprayed some abrasive shit on there and said it helps the paint to not chip while they beat on it.
Anyway, ill post pics later of the after since its raining right now but here are the before...

Most people HERE. Right. But for the rest of the world, probably not...because people suck. It is getting rare that you would find people who are honest enough to leave a note. Most people will look around, see no one and drive away. I have also seen people pretend to leave notes, which is even shittier.

I had my Audi hit when a semi-truck driver (without trailer) backed up into the front of the car. He just came out of the store and didn't bother looking behind him before getting into his rig. Well when he backed up I couldn't get the car started fast enough for me to get out of his way. Then once he backed into it he just kept backing up some more after I laid on the horn for 30sec. Then someone walking on the other side of the street got his stupid attention and told him what was happening. Just happens he couldn't hear my horn because of his truck noise. Anyway after I was about to tear his head off I saw that he worked for a company and got all his info. Then the police came and the driver was upset because he might loose his license. So I told him I would let him know with an estimate the same day for $1,183.00 and he started crying that it was too much and that his friend could do it for less. I said bullshit...I don't want just anybody working on this because he caused some internal damage under the hood also which I couldn't see at the time because my hood couldn't open either. After I saw I wasn't getting no where with him, I called his company and went strait to the dealership and his insurance ended up paying $2,800.00 and got my baby looking brand new..... I don't know if he lost his job or not but I'm sure he don't want to see another Audi again...
quick update. i filed a claim w/ my insurance and will have EMC in Fremont do the work. just dropped it off this afternoon. requested for the USP front bumper, spoiler, 2 side grills, lower blackout bottom grill, and S4 blackout hood grill. they'll let me know what damage was done on the hood. they'll probably fix it and repaint. i requested to keep the damaged parts (so if anyone is looking for some stuff, lmk). the funny looking thing though is, i'll have a fully painted USP front but my sides and rear bumper will be unpainted, doh! downtime will be 4-5 days, so i'll spend some quality time w/ my beater truck. as for the differences in cost between a stock front bumper to the USP (i'm not sure at the moment, shouldn't be much) but i'll pay the difference. also, thanks to the sticky in the B6 forum for part numbers and pictures. it really helped the guys at EMC know what i want rather than guessing what a USP front bumper is. btw, didn't take any before pictures, but there were a few of my car from the SC Audi, STaSIS, AZ G2G not too long ago.

Dino,
Your car is in good hands at EMC. No CF hood? I got an OE style VIS hood sitting around if you are interested.
