View Full Version : Interest in an Audi track day at Streets of Willow?

We're thinking of putting something together for everyone and I wanted to gauge interest. The cost of the track day would be $200 per person. We wanted to try to have this consist mostly of Audis, but if you have friends that would be interested in coming, they are more than welcome to join.

Post up in this thread if you would be interested. [race][race][az]

We havent picked any dates yet, we wanted to see if there was enough interest first before we chose any.

I would definately be interested. Are you thinking weekend or weekday?

I'm thinking that we'd hold it on a week day. If you guys have any friends that do not own audis, they are certainly welcome as well.

good idea on settling for a weekday date. weekends are almost impossible, unless you don't mind middle of summer where temps are over 100F!!! willow springs tends to favor groups who race or do time trials. if you're just looking to do an open track day, you'll be way low on the priority list.

besides track rental, be sure to factor in - insurance, ambulance, and corner workers.

Sitting on the 405 parking lot today on the way home, I was wondering when, if ever, I'm going to be able to track my S4. And now, I get home to see this! I'm IN!

I'm glad theres a lot of interest so far, this should be a pretty good day.

IOKEPA,

The track provides the corner workers, and as far as I know they have their own insurance which is not what we have to worry about since we're paying them to use it.

If it is a Tuesday I would be interested. $200 seems high, of course it depends on the number of people attending. I usual pay $120-150 for one day on a weekend.

as an organizer/planner for many of the SoCal ACNA track events, i can guarantee you that Willow Springs DOES NOT provide corner workers. it is your own responsibility to arrange that. WSIR can recommend people (we use and prefer William Wampler). as for insurance, again, this is also optional. unless, they've packed it into the cost of the track rental, this usually cost about $1K/day if you decide to use the track's insurance.

I also agree that $200 seems high, especially on Streets of Willow. Anyway, depends on the date, I might be interested. However, I won't be bringing the Audi.

I know Willow Springs is in the Palmdale area but exactly how far is that from Button Willow?

Trackdays usually run $160 per day or $250 for two days depending on the club. A buddy of mine is actually renting a track out in NORCAL on the 30th for us to play around on. Also, one of your SOCAL members will be here at Infineon for NASA. Why not roll up with him? I think his SN is JohnnyBravo?

I dont think they'd let you on the track with the cars, but that would be sweet to see, Colin. If youre free the day we do this, you should come out and hang, its been a while. [up]

For sure man, Willowsprings is only 30 minutes from my house so why the hell not. Shit, i could bring the Touareg out. Haha. But yeah, i was just kidding about the bike, i know they wouldnt let me out there at the same time. Its all good though, i get my share of track time on the bike. Wish i still had my Avant though. Maybe i'll just ride shotgun in your car. Or maybe your could let me borrow a car. Ha! Either way, i will most likely come out an hang.

Hey i'm in, but does it have to be a weekday? I have school+work so that leaves weekends for me.

For reference: i'm doing streets of willow on Sunday with an instructor for $180.

Are you talking about this coming Sunday with Redline? If so, I'll be there too. Look for a white Prelude.

You guys gotta remember, this isnt being put on by an organized track days company. This is Nick trying to put on an Audi track day for the Audi folk. Thats cool as fuck. Its also a lot of work for him. 200 isnt too much. Numerous times i have paid close to 200 bucks for track days. Thats from places that do track days all the time. If i still had my Avant i would gladly pay 250 for an event like this.

For "Dummptyhummpty" so what if your doing a track day for 180 with an instructor. Almost all track days give instructors to people new to the track. Also, when you say instructor, i can almost guarantee its just another person out there for the same track day that happens to have a bit of experience and they volunteered to ride along with some of the noobs. Shit, with some track day companies it is mandatory that you drive with a so called "instructor" if you are new to the track.

You guys drive Audi's for fucks sake. Stop complaining about a 20-30 dollar difference between a track day catered for no one versus a track day catered for Audi's.

So you're saying that because we drive Audi's, we can't find ways to save money??? [down] Driving an Audi doesn't mean that I have to pay extra for everything!!!

Unfortunately, it does have to be a weekday which is inconvenient to most people, but its much harder to get a weekend at the track.

We're trying to keep the track day relatively small which is why it is only being posted about on Audizine for audis because it makes it a lot more fun when there isnt a lot of track congestion.

I'll be making a post in a few days with more information on this as it seems like we've had a fairly good response. [drive][drive]

I was not complaining (plus I don't know if "Nick" has connections or anything), just pointing out what I was paying for reference. I never said I would not pay $200 to come. There is no need to be so rude. BTW my instructor ended up being vwong.

Definitely not saying that the Audi folk is not allowed to find ways to save money. Shit, everyione wants to save money. Its just that i would expect some budget ass honda kids to be complaining about such a small amount of money. You obviously have the money to afford an Audi, so whats an extra 20 bucks?
