I just spray tinted my tails and i dont know how i feel about it...

I only smoked the white stripe but i made it really dark and im not sure if i like it or not... kinda looks like electric tape..

I mean i taped it all up and did it very clean, and also did like 4 coats of clear over it muy professionale..

but if i wanted to remove it... what is the best way?

maybe sand it off and then finally sand it with paper with like over 1000 grits? just a guess

I would say paint thinner, but I am not a pro with paint.

I used paint thinner, use very light amounts to avoid damaging the plastic..

brake cleaner and sanding worked for me. if you sand them you would have to also put a clear coat on when done sanding so they dont look dull

i would wet sand then take some plastic buffing compound and buff the whole tail light. they will look brand new. make sure the tint is 100% dry before you start sanding though.

i also smoked the side markers and the day after i used acetone and a paper towl and it came off perfect...

but im not sure if i should do my tails with acetone because its bigger and not just a side marker...

what do you think?

no definitely dont sand anything. go to home depot and ask for goof off, and if they dont have that get some goo gone(less abrasive and has an orange scent to it). its going to take a long time to take off but that stuff will do the job and wont hurt the tailight lense.

So if your like me you ended up tinting your tail lights to dark! DOH!
I have heard disaster stories of people trying to get the paint/tint off and it coming out worse than before.

So i decided to do a write up.. Pics are cell phone so they suck.

DISCLAMER:!!!! :: I am not responsible for your messup's. DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

Tools Needed:
-8mm socket
-Phillips Head Screw Driver
-Turpentine
-Lots of Cloths (or papertowels) i used cotton cloths
-Rubbing alcohol
-Lots of bottled water
-Dish washing gloves ( or chemical gloves )

Step 1: Removal of trunk peices/covers. 7 or 8 phillips head screws on the middle peice comes off. set them aside!

Step 2: removal of brake light cover's

Step 3: Removal of brake lights. 4/ 8 MM nuts come off and the light comes out, use a small flat head to get the plugs off.

Step 4: Time to remove the paint! Break out the rubber gloves, i used dish washing gloves

Step 5: Make sure you use the alcohol every few minutes to wipe off the turpentine so it wont eat up the plastic!

Step 6: Depending on how many layers/ type of paint repeat step 4 - 5 multiple times, it will take while but eventually youll see the paint slide off

Step 7: Wash off with soapy water.

INSTALLATION reverse steps 3 - 1

Sit back and enjoy your brand new looking stock lights.
