need some help here. My car wont start, turns over but does not fire. all the fuses checked out fine.

i pulled the #1 coil and plug (smelled like gas so i assume its getting fuel). grounded the plug on the head and no spark while cranking.

What would cause this? cam sensor? speed/rpm sensor?

stock ECU

A broken timing belt could cause that!! Might want to double check... Does it seem to crank faster than usual?

timing belt is fine, tripple checked it to make sure it was right. TDC motor and the notch in the cam sprocket ligned up with the notch in the VC

also rotated the engine a few times with the crank shaft and it still all lined up

I would say, get the car scanned for codes even if you aren't throwing a CEL...

definately not this. the key to what he said is... his engine TURNS OVER. speaking from experience (3 weeks ago to be precise), when a TB goes out... the car wont even turn over, all you hear is the starter whining. just a little FYI. be thankful its not that at least.

does that pretty much rule out bad ECU?

Ummm, I have heard PLENTY of vehicles that will turn over when the timing belt broke... The crank will move but the cam won't... Which means, you will not have any compression and no compression means it is 10000x easier for the engine to "turn over" causing your starter "whining."

will a vag/scanner tell me what sensors arent getting signal?

ok i stand corrected. Vag it. then post what codes you get on here.
