Does anyone have any test pipes for a 2.8 30v quattro, i searched and couldnt find any. Any company make some? or would gutting out be the better option, whats the pro/cons of gutting the cat

The power gains will be minimal and not really worth it on a V6.

are they large in the 1.8?

No huge power gains in a 1.8t but the powerband changes so it feels like more midrange power. The turbo may also spool a little sooner. A high flow cat is a much better replacement for the stock cat than a test pipe.

i was looking for more of a better sound than performance, wouldnt it help do that?

i dont think thats true at all....the test pipe is a much better flowing piece than a high flow cat.

I've run a gutted stock cat, a test pipe, and then a high flow cat. I've done a lot of daily driving and track days with all three pipes. The test pipe was a better performer but had a faint sulfur smell and a bad drone from 2000-3500 rpm. I began researching the various HFC options and settled on a metallic core Labree. The drone was nearly eliminated, the smell is gone, and the power is really pretty much the same.

ive heard someone else claim that it smelled like sulfur, i only smeel exhaust, lol, and i like it. plus the sound from the turbo is unmatched....and its no worth 700$ like a cat.

My test pipe was 210 and the HFC 260, both from Labree. That makes the test pipe look like much less of a value. If the only cats you've found are 700 then you haven't been very thorough in your research.

yeah man, if i ever buy a test pipe, its mostly for the sound

de-catted or high-flow cat cars always sound so much better than ones with stock cats

no not really, i kinda just looked at the pipe and wasnt interested in the cat.
