The vent opening is a little tapered. The Plexi-glass insert just wedged in there up against the vent pivots. It's snug enough that it doesnt move at all, but I can still pop it out from the back if need be.

Was going to make a bracket from the back, but never needed to.

cgulistan - how is your set up - i like it - where did you get the parts

i also like his gauge faces.....

the big problem with a pillar gauge - is that cops can see it so thumbs down with me on that one

the vent gauges - are sitting too far away and hard to see because they are facing straight

the lower steering pod is good too - but only room for one

so the best pod is to have a vent gauge but make it tilt towards the driver - i wonder if his set up is like this - or somehow make it tilt towards the driver would be the best.

the center vent gauge is not hard to read in the least. plus mine is VDO and follows with my whole OEM + thought process. im very happy with it, and you cant go wrong for the price.

I made the custom holder at my shop. Bought the gauge at a local auto parts store.

Looks good. Takes away the problem of the side pillar airbags on the newer models too. Do you have a link to it?

gauges are not illegal - but if you are in a town like LA - and cops like to scope out for mod cars - your kinda of boned having a red gauge that sticks out like a sore thumb

i actually got it from a local shop, specialized in euro cars. the name is unforgettable, i think they have a web page. google them.
but AWE also has them for cheap.

AWE. at night the background lights up white with the red needle but the white bulb is burnt out leaving the whole gauge red which actually looks better with the red dash lights

i really cant wrap my head around why someone would spend over 250$ on an AWE gauge when you can do a VDO vent gauge for like 80$

Nebone
08-31-2007, 11:28 AM
VDO gauge is $30 plus the vacuum lines which comes out to a whole $35 tops. AWE charges mostly for the pod and the name.

yeah i didnt realize they were $250. im sure if i were to have bought a gauge it would have been a VDO

sorry but replacing a vent with a flat piece looks horredious in my opinion. i didnt trust myself to cut the existing vent to put a gauge in so i bought an awe one. i'm plenty happy with it even though i payed a lot. what the hell, i got a blow pop out of it :p

.Mad Hatter.
08-31-2007, 01:46 PM
lol.

the cutting isnt really too hard. i was kinda worried too, but i figured worst case i buy another vent. turned our flawless though. no candy though...lol.

I know this is bout 3 years old, but it's not a autometer...it's a GReddy gauge. Look at the lower right hand corner of the gauge.
