i just installed my cold air intake, between 0rpm and about 3000rpm it sputters(getting to much fuel) but when i rev it high it seems alright, also there is alot of black smoke coming out of the exhust when i am on the throttle, has anyone had this trouble?

Sounds like the MAF is not working properly. Maybe you tweaked the wires when messing with the intake? Any CEL?

no cel

MAF might be backwards

It could take a few start-stop cycles to get a CEL for the MAF. The car will run with a broken MAF or broken wires, but crappily like you are describing. Disconnect the MAF completely and see if the symptoms change. If not, I would suspect either the MAF or the wiring.

i did a couple of things today i stuck the stock air box back on, it ran perfect like it did before, then i putthe aftermarket intake on and it happened again, the car cannot keep a consistant idle, it is still puffing out black smoke and is very boggy in low end rpm, this is really weird

I got the ABD intake and my car also sputters at low rpm, and it seems to have lost power in first gear, but I do not get any smoke. Also if you had the MAF backwards the car would not work (I tried it). I am going to change the MAF to see if maybe it broke when I changed it...

What kind of intake setup are you using?

Had this problem when I was reworking my intake. A turbulent airflow can cause false readings. Have anything to help straighten out the flow before it gets to the MAF?

did you put a filter on the secondary air pump? This also depends on what year your car is.
