so i'm driving to work today and i'm in tip mode..after getting at a nice cruising speed i put it back in auto, but for some reason it stayed in tip while my shifter was in D . so i switch back to tip and back again, nothing. so as i'm rolling i put it in neutral and it finally went back into auto. so to test it out i put it back in Tip and back to auto, and the same thing happened. i can't get it out of tiptronic unless i shift into N or 4 ? any thoughts?

You have to remove the shifter plate, and there are A BUNCH of little switches on the bottom. That magnetic sensor is the piece that tells the ECM whether you are in Auto or Tip mode. If your magnetic sensor thing DID come loose then it should be the one unattached... I am sure someone else can elaborate further. I have the same problem, but my shifter plate is so messed up that I am waiting to either sand it and paint it or just buy a new one.
