New to the forum. I recently bought this 1999 Audi A4 Avant 1.8T w/ 5spd from a local Audi fanatic that bought an Audi S4 Avant. The car is ready for a bigger turbo than my wallet could afford! :)

Newly installed K04 turbo and intake.

No heat shield yet for the intake. I'll run it for a couple days w/o it. I think FedEx has it scheduled to be dropped off later today! (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89270)

Car as it sits now w/o coils. Coils didn't come w/ the car so it's in serious need of a drop!!!

In Wethersfield huh? I'm in New Britain, lived in Glastonbury for a few years. Looks like a great score on the car - drop it and pick up an RS4 grill for the front!

Those wheels look like the B6 S4 wheels that my boss wants to sell me. Are those 18's?

No, these are the B5 S4 wheels with 225/45/17 tires. I wish I had the B6 version! :)

Good to see a local on here. I'm really happy w/ the car now that it has the bigger turbo. I was surprised how much slower it was than GTI w/ similar mods. Drop is in the works, but I may wait until V-Maxx releases their suspension for the quattro. I'm not 100% sure if I want the RS4 grill. I love the look, I just wish you could the lowers grills in mesh to match!

It's a bigger difference than I would have ever guessed. With the stage 4 clutch, FMIC, 3" turboback I saw a bigger difference than if you just bolted on the K04 kit (http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/shared/part_detail.cfm?PMaI=1&PMoI=1&PEI=2&PP=a4_18t_drivetrain.cfm&PPT=Drivetrain&IL=AWEK04), but I was still impressed. It's a much earier install than a big turbo on a MKIV GTI!

Yeah man!!!! Glad to see my old car is getting some love. Now if I can only afford 2 more of those things to pop into the new car :) I'm jealous that you are getting to feel the potential of that car but I'm psyched for you. Drop that bad boy..... If you don't get to drop it for a while do sways now, you will be happy you did with the new power. Enjoy!

What Intake is that? What happened to the sport suspension?

Yup, I'm pretty jealous. I'm saving for that damn K04!

Good Luck with the car.

It's basically just a filter on the end of the MAF. We relocated a lot of the wiring while we were swapping the turbo. I'm looking forward to getting the heat shield tonight. I'm sure that I'm sucking in more hot air than I should be!

The stassis streetsports were swapped onto Aaron's (Stonediggs 1.8) S4 Avant before I bought it! My next major mod is coils, but it may have to wait a couple months! :(

the ecode FMIC fits behind the stock bumper without having to remove the grilles?

Just barely, but yes you can still use the lower grills. The OEM front lower valence get's pushed down a little in the center, but not too bad.

It also retains the stock SMIC.

why??

thats a big enough FMIC for a KKK turbo

Probably to save on piping costs. I may switch that up at some point. For now it's fine! Must save for suspension!!!

The core is much smaller than most FMICs, so the SMIC allows you to get greater cooling surface area with a smaller core behind the bumper. There are other FMIC cores out now that will eliminate the SMIC and fit behind the bumper, this FMIC is a few years old. This setup would work fine with a big turbo, but if you wanted to get over 300hp it would probably be worth while to go with a bigger core and eliminate the SMIC for better efficiency.

i like how the intake is done. how did you relocate all the mess in there to just that filter? doesnt the MAF need support or else it wiggles around and messes ish up?

I may actually switch up the intercooler at some point depending on fitment. We've been thinking about doing a custom piping setup w/ an HBX core that we have at the shop. HBX weldless core (http://meikmodifications.com/Products.htm) Although, suspension needs to come first...
