I'm getting ready to install my JL Stealth box and wondering what amp would be sufficent to power the subs in it. I believe they are 8" but I'm not sure what the power rating is for them.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Spec sheet for the 8IB4s:

Good luck getting that box to fit into your car.

Thanks for the help!

Ya it was a bitch getting it in there but I have it installed. Had to trim quite a lot of the trunk liner to get it in there.

Yeah, you won't be disappointed if you're looking to blow your subwoofers. Did you not look at the spec sheet for the 8IB4's?? 75w continuous, which means their peak is around 150-200w.

JL recommends the e2150 for the stealthbox, which means that if you run the 8IB4s (which are 8ohm) in series at a 4ohm load, the e2150 is capable of running it at 4ohms/150w bridged.

500w indeed.

VJ - you don't need a lot of power to push those speakers. Look for something that'll run around 100-150w bridged @ 4ohms.

Thanks so much for the help. That is exactly what I needed to know. I was looking at the spec sheet and I can't believe how low the power is on those speaker. Guess I'm not used to it compared to my last system which was around 400w rms. Oh well.

I think the JL box is setup from the factory to run in series correct? Cause there is only one speaker connection coming out from the box.

Thanks again!

I had a look around and found these two amps.

Rockford Fosgate P200-2 or the P300-1.

Would these work? Thanks.

you could run either of those amps, however the 300-1 might be a little much. You could run the 200-2 bridged and be just fine. I would still think about finding a e2150 or even an e1200. As both of those amps are JL and they would also allow you to run a RBC1. A little bit of a plus depending on where you live and the varieties of music you listen to.

Get a Memphis Belle 1600. I have it running all my stereo in my truck including my stealth box in the console.

This is what I have in my car and it works great.

The amp is an older equivalent of the A6450. I have 2 channels bridged running the box and the other 4 channels are running front and rear JL Audio separates and it sounds great. With this set-up you are not going to win any spl contests but it is an all around good sounding system and is far better than the Bose system that came with the car.

Once again, thank you everyone for the feedback. It's making things much easier for me. I'll look into those JL amps.
