Well on my way to school tonight, I threw a CEL. I'm figuring it has something to do with the service indicator that's been counting down on my LCD screen, even though I can't really read the damn thing, I think the countdown miles was up, so can a CEL be cause by needing service? Also, I think the service may just be an oil change, as told by the guys at Streetwerke a few weeks ago, I'm at 53,932 miles. If I change my own oil (if this is the cause of the CEL) how do I rid the light?

check your owners manual to get rid of the service and oil lights on your odometer. It something along the lines of pushing the dash button and turning on your car at the same time, then scrolling to the indicator you want to clear, then pushing and holding the dash odometer reset button till it clears. I completely forget...haha. Also, cel is not related I don't think. If you don't have a VAG-COM, go to a local auto service center to get the codes scanned and report back here. In the mean time check the obvious things like gas cap, disconnected plugs.

I think I actually might. I've been putting it off for a while, but I think the time has come... where can I get one for a good price? I've seen guys use them with Palm pilots and stuff for convenience of space, but I have a laptop, so I think I would be fine with that, right? Do they make any programs for a Treo?

you can get the knock-offs on ebay for 30 bucks, but id say man up and buy the real one so you have access to all the features... my vag com has payed for itself over and over again in saved services charges/wasted time, for example my coil packs went out on my way to work yesterday, instead of paying to get it towed, brought to a mechanic, ripped apart, etc.. i just vagged it, went to audi, bought 4 new coils and it was a done deal.

just buy it, cause then you can enjoy all the fun of logging and the other cool stuff you can do it with, also since your 2001, youll be able to tweak your ecu with programs like lemmiwinks.

theres no way i would have been able to achieve a 6.15 caps, and 14.3 1/4 mile on my stock turbo with out a vag cable, cag com, and lemmiwinks [up]

Ebay sells actual knockoff programs? I bought an eBay cable, and have access to a fully registered older version of the software, so hopefully that'll be good enough...

Here's the code I threw:

16795/P0411/001041 - Secondary Air Injection System: Incorrect Flow Detected

Possible Solutions

* Check Fuel Pump Relay (J17)
* Check Hoses/Pipes to/between Components
* Check Secondary Air Injection Pump (V101)
* Check Secondary Air Injection Pump Relay (J299)
* Check Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve (N112)

Okay. I see the possible solutions. But what am I "checking" for? Kinks in the line or what?

possible "Incorrect Flow Detected" i mean from the sound of those words, it's my best guess...

yes, double check your connections near your air box.

Shit, well I checked it out but it's not like I can tell if I fixed it or not till my VAG cable gets here. I had a shop check it and it cleared my CEL. Will it come back on in a period of time if the problem isn't fixed? Or will I just have to scan the car to find out?

did you see any loose connectors or kinked lines?

sixfiveoh

No, nothing in plain sight... any way that this could hinder performance?

yeah, you'll run a little rich and you'll notice a drop in fuel mileage.

your not an audi virgin any more [:p]
53k miles dont worry about any major stuff, sometimes my car just clears code by it self, the other day CEL turned on for a mis-fire, changed the plug , drove around with it and the CEL went away
