one step I dont get. Where are these bolts.

5) Remove the two 10mm bolts securing the secondary air piping to the heatshield. Remove the two 6mm hex bolts securing the oil return line to the turbo, they are "behind" the heatshield.

Sorry for rediculous Q but its been a while. Im attempting to help my bro with his car.

The 10mm bolts are on the heatshield itself. The 6mm bolts are... "under" the heatshield. Under is probably a better word I could've used when writing the article, sorry. They are in a recessed location, you can see down there at the right angle, or just feel around (if the motor's cold).

So these botls are under the turbo? I dont understand why these need to come off if your only working with VC? The oil return line goes into the bottom of the turbo right? I dont think i had to do this on my old AEB.

Im going to be trying this on an ATW soon.

For me, if I didn't remove these, I didn't have enough flex in the oil return line or SA line to move them enough to lift the valve cover up and out. The bolts aren't under the turbo... they're kind of next to the catalyst.

This was on an AWM, on the AEB you don't have to do much except unbolt and lift. The ATW... not positive on.

Thanks man. After you were done, and tighten everything down, do you just basically finish the oil change?

I didn't even bother with an oil change tbh.

On my ATW, i just unbolted the two hard pipes, and had enough play to get the cover off.

Excellant. Ill see how it goes. Should be easy. Thanks guys. I just dont have any experience with ATW.

honestly, you just need to unbolt anything that bolts on to the valve cover, its rather straight forward
