DV recirculates the air back into the TIP and BOV releases out what should be the recirculated air.

BOVs tend to harm performane on our 1.8t's with the K03/K04 turbos due to false readings provided by the MAF because it thinks the air is being recirculated back through it.

I would say go with the dv. If you're looking for just a sound difference, the dv still sounds much better if you go with an open air intake. Very easy custom job. Just buy a heatshield from the guy selling them in the classifieds. Amazing heat shield by the way. Completely seals off the intake part once the hood is closed. Buy a 2.75 cone intake of your choice, even on ebay, and clamp it on the end of your MAF. With a bov you only hear the blow off, but with the dv, you will hear your turbo spooling, air sucking in and when the air is blown back into your intake. I had a bov when I first bought the car and within the first week replaced it with the dv. Make sure you get that heat shield though. You don't want to be bringing in hot air to your engine.
