should not be too bad

ebay, car-parts.com, craigslist, local forums for parting out - remember you can use the 2.8 too if you have a manual - not sure for auto

buy a 2.8 trans. You'll like the gear ratios more then the 1.8 trans with your turbo setup. I found mine on car parts.

They are supposed to be pretty strong.

To the op:

Tell us the truth, what were you doing in that thing? Where you launcing the car 5 times a day from every stop light or going full throttle in reverse, trying to do donuts or anything crazy like that?

Did you ask them to elaborate on what exactly "blew?"

^x2^ most transmission shops should be able to fix almost anything. find out what blew and shop around to see if it can be fixed for less than getting a new one.

they said 1st and 2nd are gone and bunch of other things inside, so they said it would be about 2500 dollars to complete the job

He blew out the diff on the 2.8 and plus the 1.8 is better for drag racing due to the closer gearing...

This is especially true with a BAT (Big Ass Turbo).

yeah i just blew my trans too.. i'd go the car-parts.com route because if you get into ebay you have to worry about shipping a return if it doesn't work but with car-parts you can find one local with a possible warranty.

search it i know there's some good info in there about doing this when i was looking into all this, i think you might need to use the 1.8 flywheel but a not super positive

I'm in the same boat. I just fried my 2nd transmission, but i beat the shit out of it.

I do launch the car a couple times a week and floor it a lot. do sometimes to donuts, and i am just hard on it. Probably not a good idea on 100k mile old mounts. but hell I'm on my third gas pedal.

Hehehe, how many people can say that.

the 2.8 will bolt directly up to the 1.8 tranny and clutch. The only think i am not sure of is if the 034 track density mounts will work on the 2.8. they should, but i'm not 100% on that.

tranny mounts stay the same, you swap the driver's side bracket from your old tranny to the 2.8 tranny

So if they stay the same then i should indeed be able to use the 034 track density mounts.

Damn this will be awesome
