Ok i just got my giac chip in about three days ago and today i was driving on the highway doing about 85mph and it went in to limp mode and it wouldnt boost above like 5psi, so i pulled over and shut the car off and turned it back on and it was back to normal and i didnt get it cause i have never had that happen even with my first a4 i had. it was about 98 degrees outside if that makes a difference but if anyone can tell me what this is all about that would be great.

that doesnt mean theres no codes stored. there should be one even if the cel didnt come on. i didnt get a cel when i went into a soft limp mode but there was a code for my maf when i scanned it

well..hot weather causes our turbos to spool a bit higher than normal just to make the same hp. since you're 2000, you probably got the x chip 1.3bar (19-20psi) you probably spiked higher than your ecu would have liked...

Thought the X-chip was only for the 2001 and up...

the X-chip is not for 2000 cars. Did you go into limp mode after getting on it hard. it only takes one boost spike in third, fourth or fifth gear to go into limp mode. if your in a 5spd, dont bother pulling over, just throw it in neutral when in a straight line and pop the clutch slowly w/ the key switched on in gear. when I had my KO3 on GUAC software I couldt get on it at all on the highway or I was in limp. its a huge PITA. but scan it for sure and check your codes regardless, its always a good idea!
