Well I finally got all the pieces together and did a test fit before the pieces go off to powder coating. I am really happy with the results and of my make shift fab skills. I will post some more pics once it comes back from powder coating and I will also be ordering my true heatshield by tomorrow and I think that will finish it off.

Hope you enjoy and here is a link to the parts I used to make this intake

what happened to the carbonio? This one can't be better...

Sold the Carbonio and I think this one will perform better because of the velocity stack that will smooth out the incoming air before it gets to the MAF and the second reason is I am looking at doing a few upgrades to my APR stage III set-up with 034 Motorsports and one of the things that will be going bye bye is the stock MAF which will be replaced by a 3" one along with the custom intake I made.

I made 2 of them, one for the stock MAF (2.5" intake piping to the 2.75 MAF) and one for the custom MAF (3" intake piping to a 3" MAF)

I am looking at getting around 350whp with some 034 goodies ............ [:D] [;)]

The U-bend can be purchased from any muffler shop or even on ebay. I bought mine from 034 Motorsports for around $35 but you can probably find it for less. 034 had it in stock since they do a lot of custom fabricating. I then took it to my local muffler shop to have it cut to the size that I needed and then welded on the ends.

Seriously, could you find a bigger filter??? That thing is HUGE! [rolleyes]

I know you are not shooting for 350 awhp with the 28r? What are you going up to (3071? - still t25)?

I think he is looking to go up to the GT2871r with some other 034 goodies.

Fred the intake looks great. Have you thought about making something that will sit over the top of that filter and mount to the inlet tube?

Not sure, have they started making and selling the intake manifold?

No, I think that if I just add that "true heat shield" that is made by one of rhe AZ members here it will be god enough. I only used the one I had previously to keep some of the heat away.

oh.

BTW you wouldn't happen to be done with that valve cover?

No.

I went to 034 on Friday and spoke with Javad and he said that I should be able to get the numbers I want from the following parts.

1) 034 fuel management

2) 034 ignition

3) new injectors

4) 3" MAF

5) Upgraded turbo

I am currently running an APR stage III kit and will be keeping most of the kit except for the parts above that will be replaced. So the only 2 pieces of the kit that will be changed are the injectors and the turbo. I could go for more HP but this is the best way for me to stay sensor happy. APR has also told me that the stage III+ turbo actually responds well with the stage III programming.

Just something else for me to think about.

Thanks for all the comments on the intake. When all is said and done I will be selling the 2.5" set-up and just keeping the 3" piping for my car.

Not yet. I was waiting for this to be done so that I could send a bunch of items in at once to get coated instead of one at a time. Should be done real soon though.

So you are going to attemp 350AWHP on the stock engine?

Also, I am confused, by 034 fueling and ignition do you simply mean 034 Ic or IIC standalone?

034 has a piggyback fuel controller and ignition controller (two separate units). Also at this point I do not want to go standalone and I want everything to be sensor and cell friendly and this is how I can achieve that.

034 also says that APR is very conservative with their programming so there is room for improvement and 350wp should be safe on the stock engine ......................... I hope ... [;)]

I hope too.

Keep in mind that

350 AWHP x 1.28 = 448 CHP - give or take.....

Ok, I may be a little confused here ........ [confused]

I thought these motors were good for about 400whp? Or is that 400chp? Javad at 034 said that I should be good, but I do not want to blow up my motor.

There is a show in Walnut Creek that myself and a few friends are going to. I don't know how many people from Audizine that are local plan on going but it would be nice to see some Ziners there.

I dont think I have seen a stock motor last very long while making over 350whp. Have to remember that the car comes stock with just 150chp and 350whp nearly 3 times the stock power and 271 chp per liter. Lets just say it is on the edge of pushing your luck[:p]

I think the amount of power the stock engine can handle depends on how you drive.

If you hammer the hell out of it, bounce it off the rev limiter 20 times on the way to work, etc, etc, it's not going to last long.

If you take it somewhat easy, it may last for a while

Is that intake piping stainless or aluminum?... if its aluminum it would look really nice if you could get your valve cover and the intake pipe anodized the same color.

I don't plan on laying the hammer all the time and I usually drive normal to and from work but on the occasion I do enjoy a spirited drive ............. [drive] [:D]

The intake is stainless and I am in the process of having a lot of pieces powder coated with a high temp/ high polish coating that will look like it was polished.

A big turbo (especially one like mine) requires you to rev the piss out of the motor to get some power...

Lucky for me I have lasted for 6 months like this on a stock motor. The motor is getting built this week so hopefully it can stay together for a few more days.

Very true about having to rev it high to get power, but this is when a EBC comes in handy so that lower boost can be ran during normal driving and then high boost when you really want to push the power.

This is one problem that I am hoping to avoid by sticking with a medium sized turbo that spools quicker. I want a good all around daily driver and performer so high hp is not my number 1 priority. The turbo I have now does a very good job and spools up quick and we are actually going to try to get a little more out of it before we switch to the gt28rs from the stage III+ kit. I trust Javad and he says that he can make it all work with no problems.

I'm always looking to shell out more $$$ (the plastic kind that you don't have to pay back so fast) [;)] [rolleyes]

I was at 034 today and I saw the B5 that they are working on that has a gt35 turbo charged VR6 ........... [eek] [eek] [eek]

That car is sick and Javad said they should have it running by the end of the week. I can't wait for them to get started on my project so I can get my car in and out of there relatively quick ............ [rolleyes] [:D]

BTW that Intake looks GREAT! You're lucky you have enough room that you didn't have to order a 3" donut to get the intake to plumb.
