Hi guys

Since i have a upcommiing project on my B5 i'm starting to think about
swaping tranny with a B6 6 speed gearbox (FWD)

how strong is the tranny in my FWD B5 ? (i'm planning on 400+ hp )maybe i dont need this swap
can someone write exactly which parts i need to replaced ? (starter, clutch, flywheel, pumps? what else? )
is the B6 tranny is stronget then the 5 speed from the B5 ?
is there any diffrance in the diff ?

THX

the tranny can handle the power the problems putting the power to the ground on a fwd.

easiest and cheapest swap is the b5 2.8 tranny. the b6 swap may require axel swaps and what not. Clutch is a must!

finding a 2.8 manual tarnny is impossible in my country
(finding a B6 tranny is hard also ... but possible )

Im pretty sure your 1.8 tranny can handle the power. IIRC mike said he ran over 500 awhp on his 1.8 tranny

oh haha sry...forgot you were from Israel! fwd or quattro..the tranny should be the same. there have been quite a few fwd threads lately..if you have time do a search, and you'll probably find some answers. i'd help you search, but it's 3:11am here and I'm not in operation mode :|

Yeah the FWD tranny should be able to handle the power. How much are you planning on making? I think bOOOOstedAudi is making over 350 chp and he is fwd

speedydragon - ye i'm from israel - camel country [:p]
(but you'll be supprasied to see the vag scene around hare )

at the moment i can't estimate hp's but i'm planning on GT3076 with very high boost (built engine, stand alone etc')

do to the toghts that i'm planning on semi-slicks for daily and racing slicks for racing - you think the tranny will handwl it ?

i saw couple of VRT's and gti's with 35-400 hp that blow the shit out of the tranny's
and i dont want to be there , i want to be ready

The tranny should be able to handle all that power as long as youtake it easy in first and 2nd gear.

can you take it easy on the tranny while drug racing ?

Drug racing YES, drag racing NO.

The B5 1.8t trans is stronger then the B6 1.8t trans. I still run a stock 1.8 trans while making around 600whp and I am quattro which means I am making close to 780chp.

Make sure you buy plenty of spare front axles because you will need them.

I like these FWD threads [:D] Keep us updated with your project, but damn, 400hp? With such high goals why didn't you just go quattro? It's hard to imagine you'd even go anywhere till you hit 3rd...

mike - yiu know anywhere i can order stronger axels ?

i would love to go quatro - but in Israel there is no quatro on an A4
there is allot of cars that are FWD around hare ... even 500-600 hp ones
i just need to get semi/racing slick
