View Full Version : Boost is coming on late after gauge install

So I finished up my boost gauge install earlier this evening. After I got everything hooked up, I went out for the night. Everything was normal. When I got home I was screwing around with the placement of the pod, unhooked the tubing for a second. After I plugged everything back in, the car felt different. I was still boosting at 10-11psi, but it was taking a while to get there. I was only vacuuming at like 10 (I thought it was more earlier) , and when I floored it, there was a slightly slow climb to 0 and then it shot up to 10psi. What the hell is going on?

Leak at the gauge or the line going to the gauge since that is what you were playing with.

what the FUCK. I just checked everything, tightened everything up. Still only vacuuming around 10 and the same goddamn problem. What the hell did I do [:(]

maybe you gave it a lil yank when messing with the pod? check vacumm lines?

definetly a boost leak somewhere recheck all the lines

Vacuum at idle should be around 20 inHG

Did you use rubber, silicon or plastic lines?

Ok, it appears to be working now... maybe it was a kink in the vacuum line? Would a bend in the line cause that?

wouldnt cause the car to act different, just the gauge

Well now on my way to work it was still boosting fine. When I started it up, at idle it was vacuuming like 21. Then when I started driving and let off the gas in gear, it would vacuum down to like 25 or more. This doesn't seem right to me... Also, when I revved it in neutral at idle, it shot up to 0 fairly quickly, something I don't think it did when I had it working right the first time.

Does any of this sound right or wrong?

Im not sure if 25 InHg is correct, but it definatly goes in more vacuum when it is in gear rather than neutral, and yes, when you rev it it shoots out of vacuum rather quickly. 25 seems like a lot to me, are you chipped? I was running 20 at idle when I was chipped, now 18 w/ a ko4...so everything sounds right, but you might want to figure out if 25 seems like a lot

Not chipped... k03s, if it makes a difference? It does look a little higher inhg than it did when I first put it in. I'll have a video up by the end of the day for you guys. Anyone know if 25 is too much vacuum in gear?

It looks like I'm at around 22-23 at idle now that I check out the video I just took... the numbers look a bit high... I'll post the video up in a few minutes...

22-23 is normal, sounds like everything is running smoothly at this point
