Yesterday I spliced a bosch universal o2 sensor for me pre cat and I was wondering, how do I know that I spliced the two white wires to the right ones? The universal had two white wires, a black wire and a brown wire. The wires from the harness were the same. If I swapped the white wires, will I get a cel? Cause I haven't gotten one so far. I heard that one of the white wires is for the sensor and the other for the heat. Thanks.

BTW this is for a 98.5 1.8tmq

I don't think it matters. No CEL sounds good to me

It could take a few start/stop cycles before a CEL comes on or a couple hundred miles - good luck.

white wires can be swapped.. or they wouldn't be the same color :)

what was the sensor you got and from where?

I got the one from shokan for 55 bucks. It's a bosch universal and so far it's working great! I guess I was wrong about the wires. The two whites are for ground, black is for the sensor and brown is for the heating element. Unless I mixed those two up. Changed my log in by the way from silver 2.8 v30. Anyway, I would say this is the cheapest o2 solution for the AEB unless you find some really cheap ones on ebay.

Wow! Where did you get a deal like that?

well turns out one of these online discount auto stores has an ebay store, and they were actually selling the universal o2 sensors on ebay for like 13$ less then they were on their reg site...

how are those universal ones working out for you?? I cant wait to get my power and gas mileage back!!

Working just fine. Didn't really notice a difference though since I didn't have a code for a bad o2 sensor. I just didn't know when it was changed, so I did it as preventative maintenance.

alright cool, yeah mine are the originals with 163k on them, I'm throwing about 7 o2 sensor codes so hopefully these will show some improvement.
