So I think im gonna go with a 3071r but, dont know what size FMIC I should use. As far as size of piping, inlet, outlet, and size of the core. Going to be installed behind a modded s4 bumper. Links and suggestions from you bt guys would help alot. (mike)

I just installed a 28x7x2.5 core with 2.5" piping from Just Intercoolers off of eBay, it fits behind my S4 bumper perfectly and according to their site it's good to 600hp if I remember correctly. They make a quality product and best of all it only set me back $213 [:D]

Buy mine, 190 shipped with the MAP Sensor Flange Kit if you are putting it on your '00 or '01?

He will need a much larger core then that. He will need a core that will work for about 400whp(500+chp). Most likely need something like my last core which was 20x11x3.

Here are a few bar/plate cores off of the Garrett turbo site

Part #
703518-6018 = 24.0x6.3x3.0 9.9lbs 475hp
703518-6017 = 18.0x10.3x3.0 11.2lbs 510hp
753447-6004 = 22.0x10.3x2.3 11.8lbs 530hp
487085-6002 = 20.1x11.2x3.0 15.2lbs 600hp(my old fmic which urS4 has now)
703518-6019 = 24.0x7.9x3.0 12.0lbs 600hp
703518-6020 = 24.0x10.3x3.0 15.2lbs 775hp
703520-6011 = 24.0x10.3x3.5 17.8lbs 800hp(my new fmic)

Mine is 30-31" long with end tanks and fits perfect behind the S4 bumper.

right. you also have custom smaller endtanks than your average intercooler. also you run no A/C condensor to give you a bit more room. among other things im sure

Well anyone can make end tanks like that, the front just slants back and this is how fred is doing most of his tanks now. Yes I dont have a A/C core but there is over an inch of room between my FMIC and the rad since my FMIC goes down past where the rad support comes back out, I even had enough room to put 4 tabs to mount my new electric fan directly to the back of the rad. Lets also remember I have a 3.5" thick core, where all he needs is 3" so that should fit just like mine even with a A/C core still in the car. The 3" thick core I used to have(what he could use) I had in the car with the stock bumper and no A/C.

Here is a picture of the space behind my 3.5" core

Thanks mike. Is your bumper crush beam notched out? Also what size piping? Not sure what the size is of the outlet of the turbo because I dont have it out. Going to try and get most of the stuff from 034. ( turbo, tube manifold, dp).

The bottom and back has been notched to fit the fmic, the top section of the rebar is still there. You will want to run 2.5" pipe.
