Can anyone say something good or bad about them from experience? specifically with 2.8l but 1.8 info is welcome too. im not sure if there is a difference[up]

It makes no difference. The OEM pulley is very good; thus quote people who have used both.

I have the Unorthodox Pulley on My 1.8T and it probably weights 5 times less then the stock one. I installed it along with the EVO EFK and noticed that the revs climb a little quicker. Had it for almost 2 years and no ill effects!

OBX power pulley set (3 pieces, significant gains throughout power band) $150 on ebay
electric fan kit: $100 if diy kit from thefanguy.com, or $200 from awetuning

You should see the dyno for the pulley set. OBX makes a replica of the unorthodox racing set.
