i have a k04 turbo with a rebuild kit and am looking to rebuild it by myself. Does anyone know of a k04 rebuild diy that i can follow?

you can not rebuild a turbo by yourself - it requires a lot of special tools - find a place to rebuild it for you for around 250-350 is the avg going rate if there is no damage to the turbines or crack exhaust housing.

its very possible to rebuild your own turbos. There is a youtube video of the basics on turbo rebuilding. GPOPSHOP will sell a rebuild kit along with instructions. Its about 100 bucks.

Did you buy yours from Gpop? I was actually planning on rebuilding it either this weekend or the next and making a write-up for it. It's really not that difficult. The only thing I was planning on not doing myself is the balancing. I think it only costs $20 at a turbo shop though.

thanks...just in case...do you guys know of any good places to go and get my turbo rebuilt for a decent price?

g-pop is the lowest price i have seen unless you want to bring it to atp - not sure if they do rebuilds but they build some awesome turbos - and pretty sure they charge you a arm an leg.

yeah i checked out atp, theyre right over where i live...i think im just gonna go with gpop.

Just a note... The bolt right where the inlet is for the turbo shaft is a left hand thread. I learned the hard way and now need a new turbo [headbang]
