you dont NEED a BBK... you WANT a BBK...
The B7 A4 brakes are good enough for the car... I'm sure the A5/S5 brakes are gonna be just as good

i do NEED a bbk w/ the MODS that i plan to DO
this car is NOT a B7 a4..
therefore, i do need a bbk, and i will have a bbk
probably some sort of 365mm kit from Rotora or something.. or a gallardo front brake set up , since it is a direct bolt on

Really? That is interesting. But wrong. You want pretty multi-piston calipers, which are great for retaining pedal stiffness and stopping power on the track as they dissipate heat better than your run of the mill single piston caliper for a different number of reasons. The ONLY reason you would need a multi-piston setup is if you plan to make the car a track whore. My 550+hp S4 has 13.5" B6/B7 S4 brakes on it and has ZERO issues stopping from over 150mph very very quickly (just dont ask me to do it over and over again). You WANT a BBK because they look pretty. [;)] As with the mods you PLAN to do, it still wont be anywhere near 550hp. Nevertheless, its your cash spend as you wish. I wont hate if you get a big brake kit cause I do like how they look hehe

I'm feelin your response but lets also keep in mind that S5 calipers are not going to be single piston fronts. 4 pistons is enough to apply even, direct pressure on the pads. The more pistons, the more surface area and consistant pressure the pad gets. Like I said though, 4 pistons does the job. Single pistons are PERFECT for LIGHT WEIGHT cars like Miatas, Civics, etc...autocrossing and road racing. The heavy hogs need some beef up front:)

You have any absolute pics of the S5 calipers? I am gonna guess they are going to be the same as the S4 brakes which are single piston.

As you can see the most of the lineup pretty much has a version of that brake (TT, A4, S4, some A6 models). As for your reasonings for more pistons, I did generalize in stating heat dissipation and stopping power. A more even/larger friction surface allows for easier heat dissipation and was what I was alluding to. When the pads are cooler, the fluid does not boil as quickly. Many fail to realize that stopping power comes largely from rotor diameter as an object is easier to stop the further away from the center you are.... More pistons obviously increases clamping force which can play a role in helping the car stop better but is nothing compared to increasing rotor diameter. [up]

im a little confused
are u saying i should keep my s5 calipers, but increase the rotor size ?
if so , how would i do that ?
i was really hoping to put a 365mm+ rotor on there...

I stand corrected.
I was thinking RS5 calipers (more then one piston) for some stupid reason. My reasoning on single piston calipers was wrong because the diameter of the single piston makes all the difference and S4's have a large piston. Though I never could understand why they couldn't at least go with a 2 piston up front?? Yes, of coarse the larger rotor dissipates heat more especially if were talkin 2 piece rotors. I was basing my response off of my own experience and I shouldn't have. I am not use to just purchasing larger rotors with the same caliper/pad setup. I was thinking that the larger swept area needed to be compensated with larger pads but that is not true as I found out. You can go with a slightly larger rotor with the factory setup as long as the caliper seats fit up correctly, therefore allowing more heat dissipation and less brake fade from repetative, hard stops. I am saying the 345mm brakes that will likely be on the car should be fine if you are just going to drive the car around the street and there are only two reasons you will need a brake kit: 1) tracking the car regularly 2) you want a pretty brake kit on your car.
If you want something that stops a bit better you might upgrade your pads, get two piece floating rotors and a higher quality fluid.
They look nice under my 18's [:D] but i prefer function over form so 16.8 lb wheels>heavier 19" wheels.

God bless Audi with the RS4 - no need for a sexy BBK - it's standard. I am surprised that the massive caliper on the S4 is only single piston. Even my Evo had 4-piston fronts...

i will be racing the car though... hard hard hard driving...
i'll put it to you this way
i have 20k miles on my 6 piston ECS stage 4, 14" brake kit, and the entire rotor is warped

I've heard alot about ECS bbk's having warped rotors regardless of hard driving or not.... besides unless your hard hard hard driving is on the track, if you just plan to Blast through the local streets its not needed(disclaimer: i do not endorse street racing)

You can send your rotors out to be cryogenically hardened.

When I test drove the S5 today however, they felt lighter and not as graby as those of the B7S4

You could go with a set up like this. They are 355mm and work way better than stock. But I'll be honest with you, unless you track your car alot you won't need them. The stock brakes are more than enough, I just drove an s5 today at my work and they seem to do the job just fine.
