no you need a real kit. those are just imitation bulbs. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BLUE-H7-XENON-HID-HEADLIGHTS-96-06-AUDI-A4_W0QQitemZ110148054679QQihZ001QQcategoryZ36476QQ rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Try this:

http://www.vvme.com/product/detail-20023.html

A couple guys I know have it, with no complaints. I have a 4300K kit I bought off someone on AZ back in '03 or '04... and I paid 2x as much. $100 is a steal.

wait... do i want bi-xenon???

GR-RALLYE
07-15-2007, 06:26 PM
no

thebikedoctor33
07-15-2007, 06:30 PM
why not? will i still have high and low beams?

GR-RALLYE
07-15-2007, 06:31 PM
because bixenon means that you have 1 bulb for high and low. but you have seperate lights for both high and low. if you wanted HID high and low beams you would need to order 2 kits

AudiSport12
07-15-2007, 06:33 PM
yes. they are seperate. buy two kits, one for your high and one for your low if thats what you want

thebikedoctor33
07-15-2007, 06:38 PM
oh, so like get two temps?

AudiSport12
07-15-2007, 06:39 PM
temps are up to you on how much light output/color you want. you dont have to get 2 kits. its your decision, not ours

thebikedoctor33
07-15-2007, 06:44 PM
so basically it makes no sense to get two kits because output will be basically the same on both, and people will get pissed at my low beams...

AudiSport12
07-15-2007, 06:47 PM
your not understanding. you can get a kit for your low beams of your own color temp. if you would like another kit for your high beams then you can do that. the LOW beams and the HIGH beams are TWO seperate things. if you have projector headlights, you will be fine. if you have reflector housings, you may blind other drivers. get it?

ain't no1 gonna be blind as long as you have projector headlights.

i'm sorry if i'm asking dumb questions... i'm very new at this. I have stock housing... projector? and you put the kit on your low beams? i would have figured they'd be better on the highs. but again, i'm a newb.

AudiSport12
07-15-2007, 06:58 PM
what year is your car? then we could tell ya what headlamps you have. you always use your low beams when night driving. you only use your high beams when you need extra light output

AudiSport12

you have projector housings. one set of HID's for your low beams is what your looking for. you wont blind anyone

No, just the fact that you though those were real xenon bulbs. Understandable if you're a newbie to automotive technology, though its still funny.

if I may suggest, get 6000k....its totally up to you, but 6oook is still really blue, and you wont lose a lot of light output, 4300k is stock HID (not bad looking...kinda inbetween blue and pure white), and 8000k is extremely blue, but it is poor light output, and upwarsd of 12000k is purple and horrible horrible light output

good luck man, let us know how you make out!!

speedydragon

don't get fooled by those fake xenon bulbs, I had a set of piaa 8500k look "xenon" bulbs, and out put was horrible! worse than stock halogens. good luck with the purchase, if you have any more questions feel free to ask us :] search prior to the questions though! :DD

Well if I'm not to late - yes order the kit from VVME - but get it through their EBAY store. their eBay ID is Flashplus - you can either search for them or just go to ebay and search in "titles and descriptions" for VVME. how do I know they are VVME....their email address is ####@VVME.com - lol and they are only $96.99 shipped instead of $135 through their store.

+1 on the 6k or less - beyond that you lose to much light output

everyone here sure is patient.
but if you don't mind, i'm going to jump in here instead of making my own thread. especially since this answered some questions of mine also.
my car came with those ebay black projectors....the ones that come in either chrome or black. well, i am going to keep them in there since my fenders are already (sloppily) cut for them.
WELL. they are ridiculously dim. so, HID's it is.
i was going to go with one of the sets (4300 or 6000). however, i know projector lenses must be a certain depth to allow the longer xenon bulbs. do these projectors support the HID conversion?
also...when i search for vvme on ebay...i get all of those from japan. are those the sets i'm going to want to go with?

hopefully this just helped you (about which set to get) and did not just jack your thread.

wow, the ebay ones seem like a pretty good deal. Definately going 6000k. plus i just did the clear corners mod. looks sweet, but was the biggest pain in the ass. haha.

where in bridgewater is the meet?? and when?

it should be fine as long as you get the corret bulb assembly. (i.e h7, h11, h3 or w/e)

I would check ebay and see if the auctions say they are HID compatible. There are a couple people on the boards who had the ebay ones with HIDs and ended up melting the housings.

lol where did h1 come from?

Here I'll save ya - H1's are the Fogs that are in the headlight on 96-99

As far as VVME - as long as the user id of the seller is Flashplus (http://motors.search-desc.ebay.com/h7_W0QQcatrefZC6QQcoactionZcompareQQcoentrypageZse archQQcopagenumZ1QQfposZ58103QQfromZR10QQfsooZ1QQf sopZ1QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQftsZ2QQmppfqyZh7QQsabfmtsZ1 QQsacatZQ2d1QQsadisZ200QQsaobfmtsZinsifQQsassZflas hplusQQsbrftogZ1QQsellerZ1QQsofocusZunknown) then you good to go. Many members have had good experience with them.
I have a 6k VVME kit in my room right now waiting to install them in my new one-pc. projectors.

Will these HID kits plug right into a 98.5? They wont throw a CEL or blow fuses or anything?

Lol a CEL..it's not going to harm your car. I belive the 98.5 had the regular 2pc headlights, which might blind some people. I suggest you invest in some 1pc projector headlights

Yeah, I already have projectors installed, But right now I just have halogen bulbs in them. Also, I know they wont harm the car, But I thought that they could possibly throw a CEL because they use a lower voltage or whatever than halogens.
