when i lived overseas a couple of years ago we always had these stabilizer /sway bars that go over top of the engine and connect the 2 front suspensions togetter under the hood. It might (and it is probably) be me but i dont see anyone here having that on his b5:.. is this maybe ubderneath the car now? or does anyone maybe have a pic of it? id like to get it after i lower the car for even better handling.. when i google it they all come up with these sway bar links.. but i dont see the straight performace sway bar.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure you're talking about a Cross-Tower Brace. I've got one, I did notice a difference in handling when I installed it.http://www1.snapfish.com/slideshow/AlbumID=165567574/PictureID=3516232613/a=44471837_44471837/t_=44471837

www.purems.com sells one for ~$150

Generally people say you don't need one on the A4 because it has the dual firewall design which does the same thing. I've read some cases where the welds on the second firewall (farthest one forward) start actually cracking at the welds from the stress of stiff suspension and swaybars.

The piece you're talking about is a strut tower brace, it just stiffens up the chassis up front. Swaybars connect on the bottom of the car, to the lower control arms to reduce body roll.

Mine is from LLTek.com. I actually bought mine on ebay for about $50. Some one had painted it black and then realized they bought it for the wrong model. They go for $166 new from LLtek.com

Thanks and yes it is a very good looking and performing brace. It's made by racetec but they were discontinued some time ago and are hard to come by. I found this one in the classified section and I have a friend who found one on craigs list.

If you do find one do not hesitate to buy it as it is very well constructed and works great.
