That has been the law for a long time. Has to be registered as a non-op. No, it will not hurt the car at all. You do have to give a valid reason to DMV though. One time, I said I had four flat tires and that was good enough to issue a non-op. They dont check on the reason so just make up anything.
I dont actually know if this gets reported on carfax though since its all DMV based. So just to play it safe, just say it has 4 flats tires.
Good luck

If its on the driveway it has to be registered....I know is some counties, the car has to actually move every 72 hours.....Also, if you notice (sometimes) if people have a car in their driveway with a car cover on, there is a hole for the license plate to show through or the lic plate # is written on the cover itself.....
Just register it as a non-op.....If you sell it eventually just tell whoever you never drove it...no biggie....

What? On your own driveway? WTF. This is new to me. I thought as long as its not sitting non-operational on the streets you'll be fine. Sounds like BS. Guess you'll have to move it into the garage as another option instead of registering it non-op.
I see plenty of broken down cars in peoples driveways around here, and i doubt all of them are registered. East side must be more lax than where you live. [;)][up]
