I'm a tire noob. Running Kuhmo Estas 225/40/18s right now:

Will getting 235/40/18s fill in the gap a little? What are the advantages of the 225 tires? Performance? Looks? I'm not sure I like the stretched over look. Any advice will help.

your sidewall will be taller with 235/40/18. the 235 measurement is the width of the tire. The 40 measurement is the sidewall measurement which is a ratio of the width, so if you keep the 40 series, you'll end up with an overall larger tire meaning your rolling diameter will be larger. To compensate for this you can get 235/35/18 but I don't think too many people run this size. If filling in the gap is what you're qorried about, the 235's will work.

I run Khumo Ecsta Supra 712's in 235's, JMG - see my "wheels are on" post.

My wheels are 18x8.5 tho.

like the saying goes "wider is better" for handling, at least in my experience it is.
but you could rub depending on how low you are if you get 235s though from what ive seen/read it should be no problem.
and imo your gap isnt bad at all. drop it one more perch if it really bugs you n try that.

Just drop it a little more.

I have Yoko ES100s in 235/40/18s and I was rubbing up front pretty bad over harsh bumps. Rolling the fenders took care of that though!

I don't care for the stretched look either. That's why I went w/ 235s. Of course, there's alot of people out there that love the stretched look. I'm just not one of them. I want the tire to fill the fenderwell. I think mine are just right. The 225s I had just didn't look right to me. Kinda' like an elephant wearing a bikini, if you know what I mean...[:D]
