I am doing some brake work and refinishing my wheels at the same time, I want to get both rears off, has anybody used the back of the rear diff as a jack point. I did it all the time with my 66 mustang but I have never done it on my audi before.

Yup. I do it with a piece of 2x4 between the jack saddle and the diff housing. I do the same in the front centered on the subframe right behind the sway bar.

Why would you when we have the tow hook in the rear?

I just jack from there

It is not in the center of the car. I jack the rear up from the rear diff support and never had a problem with it. I use the sub frame connection points to jack from the front of the car after getting one side up slightly with another floor jack at the pitch point. This then allows me to put the jack stands under the pitch points(stock jack locations).

Your right, but if you try it, It doesnt pitch the car any or enough to be a concern, as I put it on stands anyway

lift ftw.

lift ftw.

I know this is OT, but I'm curious about your twin engine honda?

I have a lift but its a car storage style lift, works great for engine, trans and exhaust work just not for wheel/suspension work. I just went ahead and used a 2x4 before I read these responses. Good to know.
