What does your friend drive? Probably something cheap and he's just jealous. I dunno where they are made though, so I can't answer your question.

Cars we buy in the states are made all over the world. Hell, alot of Chevys are made in Canada.

LMAO!!! That explains it. Ask him where most Saturns are built. They are a GM product, the most guilty of all corps to out source.

Look on your VIN number in the dash of every car made. His Saturn is made in TN. Brief breakdown:
1=USA
2=Canada
3=Mexico
9=Brazil
W=Germany
J-Japan.

I remember when I worked for GM parts. I used to laugh every time I pulled parts off the shelf that had Thai writing on them.

When you get the car, in the window there is a paper that says where the car is built(Along with other information (MPG, Price, Etc...), and the most of the car is made in Germany, the other small percent is done somewhere else in Europe

75% of my car is German, and it is put together in Ingolstadt. The engine is from Hungary, though.

Yeah don't worry all of the Audi's are made in Germany like people mentioned. And yes VW's are assembled in Mexico.

I live in Delaware and theres a big Saturn plant in New Castle, Delaware where they make most of the Ions and the other small cars.

As a former tech.. I have actually found the Mexican built VWs to be much better then the german built ones.

it really doesn't matter where they are made its the engineering and those overseeing the build process.

One thing is for sure - no Audi's are made in Mexico.
I have to look to my sticker but I remember that there was no mention of Hungary - I have a 2005.5

After that year things seems to have changed

And BTW: Hungarians are pretty disciplined.

Germany for the most part, some assembly in Hungary.

FYI the only Audi's assembled in Brazil were the old A3's 1.8T.

I have no information about any Audi's assembled in Mexico.

No, at least not VWs exported for the U.S. market.

For the U.S. market:

New Beetle, Jetta - Puebla, Mexico

Rabbit, GTI, R32, Passat, Touareg - Wolfsburg, Germany

Eos - Palmela, Portugal

---

Audis for the U.S. market:

A3 - Ingolstadt, Germany OR Brussels, Belgium (each car is completed at one or the other)

A4, A5, Q7 - Ingolstadt, Germany

A6, A8, R8 - Neckarsulm, Germany

TT - chassis built in Györ, Hungary then shipped to Ingolstadt, Germany for the rest of the build

Yes, but that was the MkIV, not the current MKV.

I'm referring to the current lineup.

This is almost 100% correct except you left out the handful of VW's that were manufactured in Brazil, ie: 20AE GTi and GTi's in general. The first letter of the vin tells you where the vehicle was manufactured.

W=Wolfsburg
B=Brazil, etc.

Also just FYI Fobia tell your friend the BMW X5 and Z4 are made in the US :(

Those were MkIVs, not sold in the current lineup. All GTIs bound for the U.S. market are made in Wolfsburg these days.

As everyone has already said Ingolstadt in Germany, Engines built in eastern Europe but put in the car at Ingolstadt.

The chasis is made by robots but the interior pieces are all still put in by hand eg seats, dash, steering wheel etc...

I toured the plant and this was one of the things that struck me. It's good to know the car still has some of the old fashioned german quality workmanship in it not like a Honda that is completely assembled by robots..
