Just looking for some more information. I have searched but i wanted my own thread.... this is sort of turing in to a "what turbo" thread, so bear with me.

Ok I have been tossing ideas for a new turbo since the day I bought my car. What I really want to know is how to get tuning?

I have been thinking more about just going with something custom, over a GT2871R. I know a guy that is a excelent welder and can make a custom turbo manifold and all the exhaust to go with it. But if I do end up going this way how will I a get a tune? because it will all be one off custom, so wont that be a factor when tuning the ECU as mush as possible. I dont know really what to do.

How realistic would it be to get a full dyno tune? I could make the trip to portland and go to Matrix Integrated.

What have you guys with custom turbos done for tuning?
I really dont know what I want to do... Lets say 300-350whp. Safely. [:)]
Any help is great.

ok lets talk if you drive this car daily or not.... and your budget

first, do rods if your thinking 350whp....

then, you have a limited amount of options for tuning

1. Chris Tapp has been doing tunes for a little while and seems to have a few files working out
2. 034 makes a nasty standalone but that takes lots of dyno hours and money
3. Ive heard EPL is doing great custom tunes for S4s lately so maybe you could try them... Im pretty sure they would need your car in their shop tho

If im going to have to start dealing with new rods and pistions at 350whp, I dont want to get in to that.

being more realistic could I say 300whp?
I don't really need to go custom for that. I should be researching something bolt on. A GT2871R is the biggest bolt on turbo for our cars right? Going with that and an aggressive tune could I run 300whp easily?

Im not so sure of what I really want... besides a fast audi.

don't worry about my budget too much. Im not focusing on that untill I decide what I want.

After I decide what I want to get out of all this I'll see how much i'll need.

dude you could slap on a GT35 if you want... you dont make sense its software not hardware thats the problem.... GTRS kits are putting out 300whp without rods easy... why not stick to that?

Im so lost. [:(]

could you break this down for me. A GT28RS could make 300whp easly?

It seems like I constantly am seeing people talk about how they are getting 250whp.. an that any more aggressive would be unsafe.

with what supporting mods?

dont bother going with the kit from 034 you will need some supporting mods...

and make sure you get the Neuspeed Xtreme hose with it

Bing is right tho you will need a clutch and FMIC... Ill recommend the ER comp FMIC if you have the cash/Racetec if you dont... and the Southbend OFE SS clutch with OEM flywheel... it all adds up to a good amount but many love this setup

It basicly is plug and play. You can get base maps from 034, then all you really need is wideband to be safe
