I want to replace my filler plate, i hate the license palte holder....
The prob is i want to have mine painted brilliant black with chrome stripes (like the one on creative auto's website).
Does it just pay to buy the Filler plate on ECS thats grey with chrome stripes and get it painted brill. black....
how much would it cost to paint the filler plate, anyone give me some estimates????/
so it would cost 72$ for the filler plate on ECS, and then how much to get it painted...thanks!

1, FOR THE LAST TIME, it's NOT chrome- it's polished aluminum.
2, there's a glossy black filler plate that comes with the polished aluminum strips so you don't have to you yours painted if you get that one.

i did exactly what you described. got the filler from ECS ($60-something) and then had a local body shop paint it for $100. there is a phantom black out there, but it's a little diff from brilliant black, so i just opted for the custom job. plus the phantom filler is for non-sline grills, so it didn't work for me. it turned out perfectly, and the shop clearcoated the filler as well to reduce chips. i've had mine for about 9 months and it's holding up well. i plan to sell it as-is once my lease is up next year.

YEah i jsu got mine back yesterday from the shop, same thing. It turned out to cost 75 cash, plus 85 from ECS, so its better to NOT buy the painted filler plate from ECS.
Il post pics after work today...peace

i doubt they sprayed onto the chrome. those pop off easily, so it's not necessary for them to try to use painters tape or something to avoid painting them. the shop i used took the strips off before painting and put them back once it was done. if you have some overspray, it might be from other jobs they were doing near the strips when they were exposed at the shop?
you could probably pop out the strips and try some very diluted paint thinner. i used to use nail polish remover for door dings that left paint from the offender, it worked like a charm. (although i'm a girl so i happen to have nail polish remover handy at home [;)] )
