I'm having a repeating fault code pop up. (I'll paste the worst of the string of codes below) the fault I'm worried about is the P0012. It will typically show up after I drive over 2 hours(180 miles), stop the car, start it again, and head back on the highway.

I did the timing belt and tensioner in November and everything was on time then and quiet. Now I hear a, what sounds like, a noisey lifter or an out of time motor sound coming from the rear of the engine.

My car is a 2001 Audi A4 B5 1.8T...and, I believe, AWM engine.

Has anyone has this problem? Are there Vag-Com blocks I can grab to better diagnose the problem?

Time to change out your cam chain tensioner. I bet that noise you are hearing is loudest at idle and sounds almost like a deisel truck right? Unfortunatly, you had your problem arise when the price of that part just went up to about $500

058 109 217 K is the part you need and also, from what I know, there are no aftermarket parts to replace it. It won't HURT your car to drive it like that but I would get it fixed sometime soon.

Also, with your misfires it looks like your MAF may be going out... Log block 003 under WOT and see if the g/sec go above 130ish... Unless you are chipped then they should be in the 170's... If they are way lower than that, it is time for a new MAF, also check spark plugs before you do that...

Ouch! $500??

Curious, I know my car is supsect for sludge problems. Would it be possible that sludge or build up would cause the adjuster to jam? Would Sea Foaming be a good thing to try first? Or, if I have a slight sludge build up would Sea Foaming make it worse?

Also, is there a block I could log for oil pressure?

Not really, it is a common problem with the 2001's for those to go. Seafoam wouldn't hurt, but it isn't going to fix your problem. No block for oil pressure... The oil pressure switch is either on or off, no specific readings...

Oh well... Do you, or anyone, have any online places you goto for Audi parts? Specifically this one?
