I tried searching for "Air Intake" and I found nothing.

I hate to be the one to say it, but you did NOT search very hard, ther is endless numbers of threads on this,

stock airbox: cheap and good to 300hp
carbonio intake: insanley expensive, louder, shows minor improvements
Evo MS: only good w/ a better heatshield than supplied
custom: good luck

If you just want to do if for the noise factor... grab a cone filter (2.75in if you still have your stock MAF) then clamp it on to the MAF it self.

then buy a heat sheild from that guy on the forums. He makes them him self and they seem to be super legit from what Ive heard and seen.

~$90 heat sheild + ~ $30 cone filter = $120 and your done.

Thanks for the help guys! One last question... I have narrowed it down to K&N or SAMCO hose. What do you guys think??

DIY intake here and I switched from a Carbonio V1 and I love it, but this style of intake is louder than my Carbonio was.

who ever has this cone filter should imediatly replace it with a cotton ones istead of wires cuz its killing his MAF and good possibilty that little chips of rocks have gone as far as the intake manifold

Just an FYI.... I tried stacking my cone filter directly onto my maf because i thought the EVOMS u-pipe was restricting airflow... ended up getting a check engine light because my MAF and 02 werent getting the same air readings... and believe it or not... i def felt a decrease in power with this setup. a BIG decrease.

Apparently you cant put the cone on the maf because the air coming in is too turbulent and the maf doesnt get proper readings. I ended up putting my u-pipe back on a coupe nights ago... i got my power back and no more CEL.

i will say tho, with the forge 007 and no u-pipe, the woosh sounded sexy as hell! With the u-pipe on, it still sounds sexy but not as loud and in ur face anymore.

I don't understand how this is killing my MAF as it filters down to 200 microns which is as good as any cotton style filter. As far as rocks, I would think this would be better as rocks can do far more damage to cotton filters than stainless steel.

200microns? holy crap thats huge! the OEM paper filter is typically 100% efficient at 8microns.

200microns = .2mm = .008" => 8 'thou' [eek]

a random google search brought up this thread:

interesting new filter technology...flows and filters better than stock, availible in other configurations.

Thanks for the info, as I am always trying to keep updated on these kind of things. This is the first I hear of this so I will keep an eye out for any unusual things and may also consider switching to a K&N cone filter.

Thanks for the heads up ............... [up]
