I ordered the OEM RS4 wheels (19x9", 29 offset) for my B6 s4 and I have just realised that the offset is very small and I will definetely have some rubbing issues.I now run s4 oem 18x8" wheels with 45 offset and I have put 12mm spacers. Therefore, if I put the new wheels, even if I remove the spacers, they will come out aproxx 30 mm which is a huge value.
The question is what I do now in order not to throw away the rs4 wheels.
When you put a wheel on the same hub with a bigger offset, the wheel sits further inside the wheel arch because the wheels bolting face has to move further in to meet the hub. Considering this, can I increase the offset by machining the bolting face of the wheel?
And if yes...how much? I think that since the same wheels (actually the replica wheels) come also out with offset 45, this is the most I can go,that means the wheel will now sit 16mm inwards to the hub face. That gets me around 14mm outside the OEM value for the s4, almost to the value I have now with my spacers.
I wonder if these calculations are correct and if it is safe to reduce the bolting face so much.I based my calcs to the fact that the bolting face of the wheel has some depth to "eat" as Audi makes the same wheel in different offsets and not completely different wheels from scratch.
Please help, I do not want to throw away all that money I spent.
