Guys - especially owners of B7 A4s from Europe.
Do you remember a while back there was a video of an european B7 A4 whose trunk would open up by itself - after unlocking it from the remote?

I'd like to do this mod and I am wondering if all european Audi's do that - or is that an option?

After that I need to find out which parts are different in our trunk lid opening assembly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

If someone can provide more info on this, I can get the parts you need. I believe that the regular parts should pop the trunk all the way open, but they probably reduced the stored pressure on American cars. People were probably knocking themselves out with their truck and then suing for it. I think it says something in the manual about it opening fully. I will have to ask someone who has a european A4 over here.

Hello,

as i come from germany i sure got this sweet thing :) [cool]

Well the original feature is opening itselft with pressing the button on the key for 3 sec...

the feature did not cos the world... was pretty low... maybe 100$ or so....
anyway it's a nice feature with one handicap.

it's not opend electronically, slowly, smooth whatever.. it's openend with pressure.. so you also have to hit it hard to get closed [mad]

The A8 has the electric one. I wouldnt mind having to apply more presure to close the trunk.

So - if I understand correctly there are two modes to open the trunk - one would be like now - one click on the remote and the trunk unlocks but does not pop open wide and the other mode - where you keep the remote pressed for three seconds and the trunk pops open.

If i am correct - that is what I'd like to do providing that there is a way to code this which I think it should work

I don't think that's correct. North American spec requires you to keep the remote pressed for 2-3 seconds to just unlock & pop the trunk barely enough to clear the latch. The previous video that you've seen has the lid spring open completely and looks to be mechanical, and doesn't look like the A8's electronic one.

I think you're exactly correct. I wanted my truck to open all the way and a member from Germany checked the part number on his gas springs and the number was different from mine. I had a thread going on this a while back, but the big crash killed it. The cost was about $80.00 for the change if I remember...

Now I just don't care, so I'm leaving well enough alone. [;)]

ok.

So there is only one way to open the trunk on both continents - just a tad in US - just in case you put your baby on the trunk and all the way with the different gas springs.

I was those springs - does anyone know the part numbers for those?

thanks for the help so far

Still trying to figure out what the part numbers are for the stronger air springs.

I am back from vacation, and I will try to look those up tomorrow. I have a lot of parts to look up tomorrow, so I will probably just post everything in a new thread.

Hey guys im from wales and my trunk just clicks off the latch when the button is pressed. I wanted to
Make it open automatically too, had a quick look into it and i believe you need new hinges to accomodate stronger springs to allow the trunk to open fully! If i remember correctly parts were about £120 for everything .think the part numbers were found too. Will look into it.

there are 2 types that auto open,

first just pops

the second pops open and lifts ( i have this one)

what would you like to know ill see if i can help, recently replaced my gas struts they were about 40 dollars also there are 2 small push spring poppers in the boot lid that pop it open slightly so the gas struts start to lift,

have you got a pic of your hinge ill compare

im from uk btw

also might be best to pm me as im not always on here
