Hey guy,
I called a local tunning shop in the Los Angeles area. I asked for a qoute to chip my Avant and he gave me this price. Tell me if you know of any other place in the area that will do it cheaper.
$830 includes: 91, stock, and controller to change from one to other.

Seems a bit steep. The benefit to having a car dyno tuned is that it would be done at your current elevation and the small difference that each car may have will not matter.
If it's literally a generic flash or chip, I would pass up for the moment and keep shopping. Not sure what all the guys offer that we talk about alot on here, but APR, AWE and a couple others all offer flash tuners for less than that.

That's an understatement. Although it seems like the extras, the controller and stalk, are probably what's running up that bill. APR uses the cruise control to change programs and I think you should be able to get it all done for $600.

Does anybody know a similar event as socaleuro that offers good deals on chipping up north here in vancouver, Canada. Or perhaps even in seattle?
yeah should be around 5-600 for a chip, and about 1k for the chip with injectors maybe a little more to install the injectors.

So your saying that I can change the mode between 91 and stock, with my cruise control. Then I wonder why the guy at Torque Factory qouted me the additional piece to change from each mode.

i got apr chip for 600 for 91 oct... i think 100 or 150 forgot the price... for the stock program.. so that you can switch from stock to chip. so... at the most... you should be paying 750 for apr chip and stock. Then if you want lock out i think its like 800 in total.

it adds a code sequence that is required to change programs.
so instead of simply getting in a chipped APR car and holding the cruise to see if the light blinks, you have to tap in a few numeric digits first.
i think it's awesome, otherwise it's just so easy to see if your chipped.
