1999 1.8 A4 Tip - Stock
I'm seeing boost up to 10psi at which time the car will jerk/hesitate/something like the ECU is taking over and restricting spark or fuel. This is not a boost spike either as it can hold it there. What can cause overboost on a stock setup? Am I correct in thinking the jerking is the ECU cutting the engine off at 10psi or is this something else? [headbang] Thanks.

Correct. The non-DBW cars will have a hard fuel cut around 10PSI. Check for hoses broken or disconnected near your turbo and turbo-intake-pipe. Sounds like the wastegate is not opening.

could just be a boost leak, my car did the same exact thing, it was a leak. You can do a boost leak test or hook it up to a vag com.

Found the problem - the line from the compressor to the N75 was torn down by the banjo bolt. All is well again.
