I need to buy them, but was wondering if the "set" comes with the clips or not. It doesn't say and they are closed right now, so I cant call and ask. I want to order them today so I dont forget. Thanks.

If you're talking about the ones ecs/blauparts sells for $105 for all four doors the clips are built into the moulding. Remove the screw that holds them on and slide in the direction that the screw head faced.

bought them, an as he said, the clips are part of the door and are plastic, they're not going to be rusted or anything, they just slide over the moulding.

I need to get these also, The 4 strips add up to the same price as the kit, $115 at ecs, it dosent really look like its cheaper for the kit? I didn't see them at blau, just the clips?

for some reason only the driver and rear driver strips on my car were rusty, extremely rusty. the passenger side strips were not rusty at all so i only needed to buy the two. why buy four when you dont need them all.

You will need new screws. I just installed these a few weeks ago, and as soon as I unscrewed the old screws, they broke inside the old mouldings. I had to pry them off over the clips (which stayed on the doors nicely), and then slide the old ones off. Install was really easy, however I did managed to break one plastic clip, but I didn't end up replacing it because it still stayed on the door just fine. Try and take the old ones off while preserving the old clips, you can easily reuse them with the new kit.

I'm confused you have a 96. 96's didn't have those moldings. Are these for your buddies car?

of the two i replaced i snapped one screw from twisting so hard but the other one surviced. i used the one screw but left the other without, the fitment is tight enough that it's not going to move, if it does i can just push it over :)

Yes, definately go to the dealer and pick up (4) new screws before trying to replace them...they're like $1.00 each. I had to drill mine out because they were rusted completely. I would also recomend ordering a few extra plastic clips ($0.50 each) from ECS...because a few will likely break when you remove the stock molding the first time.

I Need to replace mine also, but i'm not gonna get the oem ones.

I'll be ordering the universal moldings from trim-gard. They are Much Cheaper, but you gotta cut them to size and attach with 3m tape.

Here's a pic of Trim-Gard on Lude2EuroA4's car:

what does the ECS molding look like?

It's factory black molding that sits on the bottom of the door.

it looks exactly the same as stock, though im pretty sure it's 100% rubber while the stock ones have some metal in them. the ecs ones shouldnt rust.

Does the Driver's Side Rear Trim from ECS include the piece that's missing in the bottom picture of my car? If not, anyone know where I can find it? I may have to go to a dealer, but the closest dealer is an hour away.

Actually they're all plastic. I think audi realized that they suck and revised the part in all plastic. I replaced the right rear door molding on my car and sure enough the others need replacing now.[:(]

i just bought these from ecs about two weeks ago. they do not come with clips or the set screws. clips can be ordered for like $0.55 each, but i dont know where to get the screws. just dont destroy them when you remove the old mouldings and you'll be golden.

i broke one of my screws, it was rusted right to the old moulding, i turned it so hard the head twisted off :p the mouldings go on tight enough that you dont really need the screws

Because they suck.

My front passenger is starting to fall off. For now 2 inches of 3M molding tape are doing the job, but I figure I'll eventually just get a new strip.
