a4 07 or 04 s4

a4 is barely used, but same price as an 04 black s4 with 35k miles..I dont know much about the latter since imon this part of the forum mostly and wanted to get your opinions..i want a very reliable car..is there a big diff in a chipped a4 and an s4...love the b7 frame on the a4 but even tho the s4 is b6...its still an s4..a warranty would be purchased if i did get the s4..wat do u guys think? watwould you do

i heard the A5 are gona be around the same price range as the S4 and maybe even more.

I have been thinking about the same thing....Planning on getting a new car the end of fall or early 2008. I am waiting till the pricing and such is out with the A5. I am either going to go that route or try and get a new S4. Personaly, I would go for new before used, even if it is not a S4.

im in a perdicament now lol...i figured you all were right, i really dont want a 3 yr old car..thats the MAIN reason im getting rid of my srt, its fast, its nice "enough" on the inside (satellite radio and good sound setup i did) but i got the s4 blues lol...i was just dreamin really, but i dont really want something that used...now to the perdicament, this will be a very biased opinion from all of you, i already know...but what do you guys think of the g35 4 door s version 6spd...i am in love with both cars (07 a4 quattro 6spd and 07 g35s type sedan 6 spd)...the g35 is 306 hp...any experiences with these on the road or personal experience?? im going to test drive both this week and that will obv make me the most happy, just wonderin what u guys thought

if you're coming from srt4, you're going to be in shock with the a4. until you put 8k into it, you won't be near your srt4 or the s4. then again, you'll lose that forced induction rush if you go NA w/ the s4. but jesus, that rumble should make up for it. jsut slap a supercharger on it!

I just went through the entire search looking for the perfect sub-40 sedan...in the end after test-driving the BMW 3 series offerings, Infinitis G35, IS350, and even Subaru Legacy I went with the A4 2.0TQM. The exterior styling (fell in love with the titanium package) + the interior being much more sporty than the others + drivetrain stability in poor weather conditions won me over. While the power of the G35 is nice, I still get a kick out of my "wimpy" 2.0T around town WITHOUT chip. The Bimmer lost out because of boring/ugly interior and the IS350 lost out because of the poor handling dynamics (but I loved the exterior and the interior was rather posh).

Having received the A4 last week I can say that without I doubt I have ZERO remorse in my decision. I think the car fits my personality quite well! You just have to shop the competition and find what fits you best! Our opinions are just that, its what you think that counts [:p]

for around 40 you should be able to pick up a CPO 05 s4, you will not regret it.

I was driving my father's IS350 quite a bit in my month between cars. It was ok. But definitely the handling leaves a lot to be desired. It didnt have the sports suspension. Just premium. Love the cooled seats though. I am not a Lexus fan but I think that car would be pretty hot with just a few little tweaks to it.

I test drove the S4 and loved the power and I could have bought a new one, but I just don't want to pay that much for gas all the time. I just hate getting nickel and dimed for everything. Thats why I dont do sat radio. Thats why I have basic cable.

And I guess i really wanted a turbo coming out of my V6 Passat. I don't mind doing a little work to it to get it where I want it. I am pretty sure once it's chipped it will be about as fast as my SC'd Passat. I am fine with that.

how much do you drive?

i take trips out of state at least twice a month - the gas mileage of the A4 is great and would be the deciding factor for me.

If I stayed home and around town more - S4 for sure.

Looks like alot of us are trying to make the same A vs S decision. I don't plan on getting rid of my B5 S for another year or two, but I'm already weighing the pros & cons of each.

If I get the S, I'd end up getting a chip, exhaust, & suspension and call it a day. If I got the A4 I'd def need a K04, maybe even a BT depending the price/reliability. Again, an exhaust & suspension, and maybe a BBK.

I'll just have to wait & see how much the new B8s A4/S4s & A5s change the used market. I hate to factor in gas prices, but the 2.0T probably suck about half the gas as the 4.2.
