Finally we have a Aus / NZ regional section to discuss the local Audi scene. It would be great to see how many local AZ members we have (I know of most regular members but only from the B7 forum).

So post up a picture of yourself and your ride as well as your location and any current or future mods you might have planned.

Awesome rides mate. I want those rims for my car too! :)

What does wifey think of the R32? I had the Mk4 R32 and loved it. Test drove the R32 when it first came out in Europe and didn't like it very much. Those wheels must be a bitch to keep clean. The 15 spokes on the Mk4 tried my patience but those would have been sold immediately for some easier to clean rims!

Hmm... there's little pockets like that in the triangle between Hurstbridge, Sugarloaf Reservoir and Kinglake? Roads are a little busier though. We (Melbourne) don't really have anything so... tropical.

Sorry if it turns out to be nothing alike, I'm just reminded by that photo of certain parts of the road from Whittlesea down through Hurstbridge towards Yarra Glen.

I'll put some photos up when I've taken some (prepare to be unimpressed by a 100% stock car).

Not sure about Melbourne surrounds, but I was talking to a mate in Bendigo last night who's found some nice areas that he's promised to introduce me to!

And I don't know that I'd call Bobbin Head all that "tropical" but it is certainly a nice piece of road (bumpy as fek but fun all the same). ofe: my car was stock externally in that shot - even still had the 16"s on but 225 wide tyres & a photoshopped out front plate to protect the guilty [:D]

Nico: do you live near Wahroonga or was that just where the boom-stop happened?

I see something that suspiciously resembles a fern in that picture... [;)] [:p]

The teeny tiny bit of body roll in the corner makes it look lowered. Alright, I'll post some photos when I get a chance to take it out and wash it (live on a dirt road [headbang] ).

Ratty you should check out the comenarra patk way! They have just resurfaced the road.....very smooth, nice bends

Yeah, only problem is the traffic [headbang] Cruise speed for me through there is too fast to do when there are people around. At least OPH or Bobbin Head (or Mangrove/Wisemans) there's very few people around. McCarrs Creek is a nice run too if you don't get stuck behind someone - good test track after a visit to Derek.

Have you noticed they've resurfaced just 3 corners on OPH.

I find driving on these roads difficult with my coil overs its just too bouncy....I did drive on the old pacific HWY its pretty good especially up at Gosford.

Ah, yes... That was one of the big criteria when I was choosing coilovers. Ended up getting the STaSIS/Ohlins Motorsport because I could easily tune them to ride like stock (but I end up just setting them up for track & leaving them there).

Nico
05-11-2007, 01:28 AM
My coilovers are adjustable while on the car but only for ride hight. I think. Are the Stasis ohlins the ones where can adjust spring rates? Are these the ones Guy was selling on special for $2000?

ratty
05-11-2007, 06:03 AM
Yeah, just a twist knob at the bottom of the shock fr&re for rebound damping, fr compression on external reservoirs. I got them from Guy after he took them out of the yellow B6 he had - RRP is $6750 I think but I didn't pay anywhere near that. Not sure which ones he had on special - $2k would probably be Streetsport which are basically what you have already.

Lucas, I'm itching to know, what was the story of the B6 S4 V8 trans? Perfect fit? Any difficulties? Set you back much?

No pictures for the time being: can't use the car washes round here due to the water restrictions and I live on a dirt road (poor audi; I'm on my second belly pan and that one's already dented, not to mention the airdam things that are loose in front of the wheels)

DolphinA4TQ - Very nice car and numbers [up]

I wish that the tuning companies would hurry up and bring out some turbo kits for the B7 2.0L as im iching for more HP.

My only option at present was APRs K04 kit which i purchased to only find out that it was useless as they dont have software to make it work with my specific ECU / Engine.

mrponline
06-14-2007, 05:05 AM
Thanks for the info. Now that the K04 has been removed and hopefully i will have the car back on the road after 5 months of collecting dust in the garage i think i am going just going to wait it out and consider a BT kit from either VF or AWE using GIAC software.

Hopefully the BT kits are released before the A5/S5 is released in Australia otherwise i will just part out and sell the A4.

DolphinA4TQ

5 months off the road.... $#^@ I think I would have [headbang] someone!

Nothing against AWE but it took them 3+ years to release the B6 kit and that was 2+ years after their "teaser post"... either something went terribly wrong or the project took a back seat. Looks like a nice kit though [up] for them attempting it first.

S5 with a nice supercharger would do it for me. I heard the A5 2.0TFSI is only coming as FWD.

Sorry to post to an old thread, but I just noticed the OZ forum - I'm an Ozzie currently living in Boston. I got myself an Audi A4 (B6) here as it's a bloody nightmare in winter. I used to drive an Alfa Romeo GTV in OZ - great driving experience but a shitty ownership experience (shitty dealers, shitty quality, shitty service, etc).

Anyway, I noticed this post and thought I'd let you blokes know that there's a little informal street circuit just behind Rosehill Racecourse in Sydney - when I went and test drove my GTV back in 2003 the dealer (Rick Damelian in Parra) told me to test drive it there - you drive down Parkes Street I think (becomes Hassall St) and cross James Ruse Drive, drive over the bridge and there it is - I fanged that GTV all around those empty roads. Might be worth checking out if the coppers haven't latched on to it yet...
