Hey guys....a quick question....

What kind of lease deals are you getting....im looking into selling my car and getting into a lease in a A5, S5 or a new S4?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I paid $5 over invoice for my lease but that is for an A4.

You might want to post this in the B8 A5/S5 and B7 S4 section.

s4 leases are terrible. Since the a5 and s5 isn't out you won't be able to get numbers however I doubt they will be very good. The residual will be low like most audi vehicles.

I got numbers on a B&O a8 and it was 1500 a month. Ridiculous. (That was at invoice also)

A4 doesn’t have a bad residual. A non S Line A4 is 57% and with the S Line is 55%. I don’t know why it brings it down because of the S Line package but it does. You won’t find much over 60% with any car company. The money factor for the A4 wasn’t the best but not too too bad. It was .00132 which is roughly a 3.2% APR.

A8s are also between $70k and $110k. And I am guessing the used market for an A8 isn't great so the residual on those cars won't be that great.

Residual is all based on how well the car company thinks that specific car will sell after the lease. So Audi thinks the A4 will hold more then half it's value after the lease is up.

I pay $539.07/month with nothing down for 36 months and 12,000 miles/year. That is with Brilliant Red paint (no charge), S Line, convenience, heated seats and titanium. My cost was $5 over invoice.

I made a lease program that calculates the monthly payments using the residual, money factor, months, MSRP and what you pay for the car. If you get me residual, money factor, months and what options you want....I can help you with what your monthly payment should be with a low cost.

the a5 may lease well. Any S car leases like crap. Have you seen the blackbook values on the S4?

My payments today on my a4 (purchase) is at 757.00, so really anything under that with me is cool as far as a lease is concerned....so the real question is....

Can I get into an S car with that kind of payment on a lease...or should I stick to non-S cars if im looking to lease....

Don't think it is possible to get into an S. Also i bet you are upside down on your current purchase. So you have to factor that into the equation.

The a5 will not lease well. It will be like the a3, which, when I went to buy a car my lease payment on a $32K a3 would have been close to $750 per month as opposed to $400 per month on an a4. A car has to have a proven resale in the market place before the money factors and residuals help the price go down on a lease. It has taken almost 2 1/2 years for lease deals on the a3 to be reasonable, and just recently to pay $350 per month on one, you had to sign a 51 month lease.

As for the S cars, yeah, you are better off buying it than leasing it.

Ouch!
The taxes in Texas much be crazy.

I'm in NW Indiana about 40 miles outside Chicago.
I bought my A4 in Illinois just south of Chicago.
I bought/leased my 2006 A4 2.0T, manual, quattro, S-line last May 2006.
The MSRP was just under $40k. My purchase price was $500 UNDER invoice.
Edmunds.com lists invoice, but many Euro imports have "fees" typically put BMW's and Audi's about $250-$300 above the Edmunds invoice.
On my purchase I did actually pay $500 under the Edmunds listed invoice.
The sale manager tried to tell me that the actual invoice was a bit higher, but I insisted. [:D]

I put nothing down on the cost of the A4. I paid the 1st months payment and acquisition fee by check. I didn't want to roll that into the lease.
Luckily in Indiana we do NOT pay tax on the sale price in the lease.
We pay tax on the actual monthy payment, thus we only pay tax on the lease as it is used. That helps keep the monthy down.
In Illinois the lease payment calculation includes the sales tax of the actual selling price. Thus, if you have an 8% sale tax, you would take the sales price of, let's say, $35,000 and add 8% into the lease calculation.

Still, that all said and done, my monthly for my '06 A4 is $490 NO money down. I have a 36 month lease with 15k miles per year.
$757? I could easily have been in an S4 for that money.

There is an online lease calculator. I'll look it up for you. It makes decision making a LOT easier.

I found it. It's really easy to use and you can play with the numbers to see what's up.
http://www.leaseguide.com/calc.htm

BTW, there is a little known method on how to "buy down" the money factor/interest rate, on the lease.
I brought this up with the BMW and Audi sales people. At first they didn't know about it. 1 BMW guy had heard about it. Basically, it comes down to giving multiple security deposits to buy down the money factor.
It could be something like; every security deposit will buy down the money factor by .00007.
.00007 is about .17%. So, if you make 6 extra deposits, you would then get a money factor lowered by
.00007 X 6 = .00042, which translates to 1.01% lower money factor.
You would have to calculate the cost of making the additional deposits versus what you make if you kept the money in a bank or other investment.

On a BMW website some financial guys made the calculations and it was a positive to actually make the extra deposits to lower the money factor. The money saved on the monthly payment over 36 months was as much, if not better, then the average investment return on using that money for savings or typical investment return.
Of course, this is all changeable as it's based on how much the discount is with multiple deposits, and how much your intended investment return percentages are.
Plus, this is MUCH better way to lower the monthly payment compared to making a down payment.
With a down payment you spend that money and it's gone, as it goes toward lowering the principal cost.
The security deposit is money that is returned when the lease is up.

You have to talk to the finance/lease person to find out what the discount on the money factor is with multiple security deposits is. Also, there is a limit to how many SD's they will allow. I believe BMW had a limit of 7 or 9.

I hope some of this helps someone.

Send a PM to "Car_man" on the edmunds.com forum.
He is the one that provides all of the lease / residual / incentive numbers for the Audi models and he can help you with "behind the scenes" information about the car and what to expect on the money side.

The guy knows everything.

Good luck.

he PURCHASED his car, which is quite different than leasing. He's going from a buy to a lease in his 3 choices of cars. I think its doable. A5 will be the real question though.

AAAA:

No way buddy...this is my baby, I love it! In no way a beater!

The fact is ive put alot of $$ into it...when I first bought it I was going to go S4, but the price put me off be a bit....

I've realized that with the amount of cash ive put in my A4, I could have easily gotten into an S version no problem!

To awnser your question...I own radio stations.

When i Bought the car....I traded in my 2003 in 2006, the 03 was paid for so all that positive balance was thrown into the new car, plus i threw $ down.

I actually owe about 23000 on it...but im sure its worth more than that.

2 weeks ago you were going to sell your mods because you needed money for a house. Pretty cool that you managed to get enough for that downpayment and plan to take another debt on.

Maybe he decided to rent and wanted a car instead.

Why does it even matter?
The guy is asking about a LEASE. [rolleyes]

The only problem I have with the special lease offer from Audi is the are usually only on front trak models, Quattro is their bread and butter, offer these special leases in Quattro models, beside an A8.

He also asked about leasing, and I'm trying to help the guy out. [:)]

but you were comparing his purchase payment to your lease payment, and accrediting the difference to high taxes in texas. your comparison of those has nothing to do with him leasing a new car. i was pointing out the difference, and that he could get a lease of an S model for what his purchase payment is now.[;)]

My economic situation is really not a question here, to clear things up....

I am selling my mods because they are unessacary for my car to run....and I can use the money for other things...Like a loft, or a trip, or to scratch my ass.

this is in no way an indicator that I NEED MONEY.

And...if I can get out a PURCHASE with a 757.00 payment on an A4 and jump into a S car, or a newer model for less on a LEASE...that might be something Im intrested in....and asked for help.

Needless to say, thank you everyone...this is really helping me out....

Is there anyone on the boards that works for sales at an audi dealership?

I believe djwaffelz is an assistant sales manager at an audi dealer. And if you're on vortex/fourtitude, there are a couple of guys on there too.
