this isn't the lower valance on the bumper but the actual big belly cover you have to take off to change the oil, etc.

mine is so ate up i almost don't want to put it back on. then again, i've heard twice now from the dealer that the piece is actually important in directing airflow and keeping the engine cool. i've heard about the heavy duty metal ones you can get that are ~$200-250. i thought that may be a good investment especially for a lowered car, considering a replacement plastic one from the dealer is $130'ish IIRC.

my main questions are:

1. is there a cheaper place to get the OEM plastic one? i may source one from a salvage yard somewhere if need be i suppose...

2. am i at any risk for not having that on, and that maybe i should put the one i have back on for the time being?

the vw passat w8 piece will work, way cheaper than oem audi. call a local dealer or check ecs tuning

Mine has been off for the last 2 years and i havent had a single issue. if youre worried about putting a hole in your oil pan then go with a metal one. plastice wont do much for you if you hit a good sized rock.l

I've had mine off for a couple hundred miles now in 80 degree weather and there are no heating issues. but yea ecs has the w8 one for like 75 i think. but depending on how low you are you might want to get the metal one.

i haven't had mine on since a deer carcass ripped it off 110kmi ago. I would recommend putting one on though because it saved alot of damage from happening.
Also noticed my a/c line have flat spots ground on them from bottoming the front out.
Dirt factor and underbody aerodynamics. If you're a cheap ass like me you'll leave it off. Diesel geek is the one I want and i'm not lowering my car.

diesel geek, that's the ones i was looking at the other day. i sure would like to have that if it was a little cheaper. just can't justify spending the money on that over other things i'd like to do to the car. i'll prolly pick up that W8 one some time soon. now that you guys have mentioned it i remember hearing about that a while ago.
