hey guys just wanted your opinion on this, ive just put a deposit down on a brand new s line a4, now it has just come to my attention that they will be releasing the new b8 platform in 2008!, i am worried that i am buying a car that is almost at the end of its run, and will lose a hell of a lot of money on, what do you guys think? demand my deposit back and hang on for the new model? any opinions most welcome thank you.

if you buy your car, you may lose a small portion of the value, but that's still not necessarily true. it depends on how the market reacts to the b8. if you lease your b7, you won't lose a dime b/c all your terms and values will be locked in. further, if you wait a little longer for your b7, say december 07-march 08, you will likely get an even better deal b/c they will be trying to push the b7's out.

but, if you can stand to wait, sure. demand your shiz back and wait for the newly balanced, longer, and refined b8 platform.

Yeah I just found out that my order was marked to be an 08, but I can't get deep sea blue and ebony interior. Trying something else.

They didn't say anything about it being a B8 though so I guess it's still B7 until the 09s. Hope theres not something really awesome I will miss out on with the 08 B7.

You probably won't be able to pick one up at a dealer until early 2009. If you can wait that long, I would wait.

save ur money ..order an A5 lol...the dealer told me is gonna be here by december...i think they told me is around 43000-52000...

Pure speculation and guesses. You won't know what it looks like until Audi decides it's time for you to know. Unless of course you're some kind of well informed insider....but since you're asking these questions that doesn't seem likely.

i think the norm is a launch in europe next spring and we will see it at the end of summer 08 as an 09 model

Do you wanna roll in THe newest model or do you want the best quality one because typically the last year in the model run has most of the bugs out of it and will give you the least probs. The first year will have some growing pains and I would not buy a first year of the model run imo.

Pure speculation and guesses. You won't know what it looks like until Audi decides it's time for you to know. Unless of course you're some kind of well informed insider....but since you're asking these questions that doesn't seem likely.

This seems to be very true with Audis (as well as other manufacturers). I've had all kind of small issues with my '02 B6 A4 (1st year B6) that the later b6's didn't have.
I personally would want a B8 over a B7, but would wait till at least the 2nd or 3rd year of production for Audi to work out the small issues (if any). If I were in your situation I'd probably lease the car you want now for about 2 years and then either get the B8 or keep your B7. That is unless you have the money to get the B7 and don't mind possibly taking a little hit on resale if you decide to get the B8 in a year or 2.

cheers chaps for your comments, i think im gonna stick with the original purchase because i really love the b7 s line and as a few of you said if you want the new model would be best to wait until the first generation is tried and tested. also whose to say the b8 will actually be better (im sure it will) but recently i read a review for the new bmw x5 and they actually preferred the older model, so there you go new isnt always best! cheers.

Oddly enough, I have no regrets about getting a first year car. It got a color trip computer and the $500 sport package gave me a pretty great ride height. Also, no major problems.

I ordered an '08 S-line bc my lease ends July 25th, and they didnt have the color I wanted for the '07s (only about 5 left at the dealer). Car should be arriving the 1st week of August.

I can't imagine ^that is the new A4. Lines look VERY similar to the Mercedes S class. If anything that looks like a newer A6 or A8. Or just a BS photoshopped rendering of an S-class.

I would definitely wait. Speculation is that it will have a better weight distribution, lower weight, and more than one source says there will be a supercharged V6. Worth the wait IMO.

I think the V6 version shall be more than 300 hp because all the competitor has more than 300hp version. Audi must make the V6 version more than 300hp.

Here is all kinds of info on the new A5 and S5. With the A5 getting only a 265hp 3.2 V6, you can be sure there is not going to be a 300hp V6 in the new A4. Even the S5 is only in the 350 range, so dont bet on a 300hp engine in the regular A4.

If there were a (supercharged?) V6 putting out ~300hp it would probably cost more than the 3.2 V6 S5

I have read in 2 magazines now the author referring to the new 330hp A4 and a couple of folks have told me it is a SC v6. I have no idea if it will be, but I guess I am holding onto hope :)
