View Full Version : BOV or Re-Circ DV's?

Age old question of what dump valve to fit.

Just wanna clear some stuff up with response from people.

I was told that fitting atmospheric valves can cause problems with the ECU as pressure is not being circulated back through the system. Although I have seen fitting kits that still dump some of the pressure back through or even the newer style hybrid ones that do both that are said to stop errors and faults with fitting atmospheric valves.

Then old reliable the re-circ valves. I have one of these fitted and no problems as expected.

Just fancy going the atmospheric route to get the dump noise. Just want to see who has the atmospheric valves fitted and what setup they have and if they have any problems. Also does the noise warrant bothering to fit the kit?

I have a vented HKS SSQV with no problems.

Do you have any links to where you can get these HKS SSQV?

Do you have any pics of the setup? Is that the valve that goes just before the intake manifold?

BOV + MAF = bad idea
BPV + MAF = Right idea
BOV + recirc kit = BPV

There are only 2 reasons for using a BOV.
1. You want to sound like the rest of the rice racers on the street
2. You have a huge turbo pushing very high boost levels and the normal BPV can not allow enough air to escape causing compressor surge.

I have a hks ssqv. It used to be vented. Then i recirculated it to get rid of the noise. I have not noticed any difference performance wise.

I got the SSQV because....

1) My 710N went bad.
2) It was $80 for the whole kit (REAL HKS)
3) I have plans on getting the recirc kit

So you can run a BOV and have no problems I assume. I am looking at a Bailey BOV. Fancied the HKS one but not many stockists here in the UK so they are very pricey!

Alot of people make a big deal about BOV's on Audi....just buy it and install it if u dont like the way your car drives just take it off...no big deal.
