not sure what part of SD you're in but La Jolla Autotech is a great independent Audi/Porsche shop that also installs mods.

Contact: Lubo Podolak
La Jolla Autotech Porsche & Audi
5770 Miramar Rd, La Jolla
(858) 458-1022

also good shop to use for out of warranty and other maintenance stuff :)

2nd for LaJolla Autotech. I've only had some maintenance stuff done, but Lubo said that he has done plenty of mods, including turbo upgrades. I like him because he calls when he says he is going to call, unlike many shops.

Let us know what your looking to get installed, we can do installs from suspension to turbo and timing belts.

Call and mention you found us on Audizine to get a 5% labor discount.

What the hell, James. When did you guys give labor discounts for mentioning az? I would have saved a whopping 70 bucks from 17 hours of labor...that 17 hrs worth matched my quoted price (lol @ me for a 1500 quote turned 2600 final tag) [mad]

3rd on La Jolla Autotech. I'm no wrench monkey, but Lubo is honest about his work. He's got plenty of business on his own, so won't bs you with your time or money.

?? 17 hours?

Sorry but the shop rate went up to $90 a hour, under new management, I was basically offering the old shop rate for audiziners...

Oh that's ok then. I had 85/hr. 4.5 hrs for tb/water pump (thank you for shaving 1 hr here for me). 7 hrs for a CAM seal gasket/oil pan gasket/valve cover gasket. 1 hrs for a tranny mount. 4.5 hrs for motor mounts. 17 hours, ouch!

85/hr is more than fair, though. That's competitive with every independent shop and beats the dealership by miles. Like I said in the buyer/seller feedback - it's your money, put it where you want to. Each person will have good and bad experiences with every shop - so read up on them all a bit and make your own choice. The only exception to the dealership rule might be Penske, but that will be determined later!

no problem, its not like we went around letting everyone know that the the shop rate went up, but I figured to offer the old rate to you guys... so no biggie from me...

I hope you were satisfied with the work on your audi that was completed here, it seems from your first post however that we might have given you the run around? or took longer with your car then expected, if this is how you feel please let me know and we'll do our best to address it. As for the 17 hours, I haven't looked over your invoice yet, as I do not know who you are from your screen name, but from the work you described the hours you we're charged I believe is very far.

Let me know if you feel otherwise.

James

Oh, I didn't want to make it seem like I was unhappy with your services. Mine was invoice 1978/1979, for reference sake. I agree that the amount was fair for the work done, my main concern was the drastic difference between the amount quoted and charged - given that the buyers check was an hours worth of labor I would have hoped that $1100 worth of extra stuff would have been found.

Actually, my initial post was about a different incident (invoice 2389 for your reference) where my plastic dipstick shattered and during the oil change, just some leftover oil was in the pan and we thought it might be a leak (initial diagnosis was a rear differential leak, which would have sucked). After tweaking the drain plug, del forgot to replace the belly pan pins and the result was a half scraping pan on pretty much everything, haha. I thought it was my valence (which too, seems to be lacking the pins but I think the previous owner lost those), till I had Lubo replace something and he noted the lack of pins and the continuing gasket leak.

Again, I don't want to make it seem like you guys were shady in any way. From the recommendations on this site you guys are great vendors and tuners (how do you think I found you guys =D), but for mechanical stuff I'm just recommending La Jolla Autotech because my experiences with him have been better.
